Denials amidst blatant guilt is one of my favorite aspects of this country, its just so American. I already tweeted Joe and Jill, I've been hittin up the my reps in MD. Honestly, its gonna take a lot of us to make this work. Either that, or we'll have to get lucky somebody takes the story and runs with it that's why I suggested the right wing nutjobs cuz they'd surely see this as an opportunity to attack anything Obama. Just picture the Faux News headline, the sensationalism would be enough to give this some legs. I sent a lot of shyt to al Jazeera cuz they did a story on affluenza before so I'm hoping they follow up for me.
send it to them HLN girls. jane and nancy will go off normally

This is one of those cases where only a mad mob will get shyt done. You have to put the fear of hell into these politicians, judges and lawyers.

Most lawyers are just about the scum of the earth, they really are. That profession just attracts people who are willing to whore themselves out to the highest bidders or whore themselves out to the people who will help their careers advance. Makes you appreciate the good ones much more but they are rare breed it seems.

GTFOH with this bullshyt. The amount of lawyers/law professors who do pro-bono, public interest work, and have set up clinics that help out the disenfranchised are the majority at my school. Hell many of my classmates who do not have a great deal of time on their hands go out and volunteer. My Con-Law Professor helped lead the way in terms of ending stop and frisk in NYC, and dude was in the middle of the hood protesting against the drone program this past week. I really don't think you have had a great amount of experience in dealing with lawyers, based on your comments. Hell most of the kids at the top of my class have very little interest in big corporate firm jobs, and so this stereotype you have of the legal profession is way off to say the very least.

@Broletariat I can't believe you dapped up this post. The first sentence makes sense and the rest of it is why he hates on me and every law student on here who make the arguments that need to be made. All the best arguments against Zimmmerman, NSA, Michael Dunn, etc., were made on here by law students. You sat in there as @ogc163 and I, two law students, argued against the NSA and just ran up and basically called us scum bags without quoting us for no apparent reason. @MustafaSTL @DANJA @ltheghost , etc.

The legal field is no more corrupt than any other field in the country with the ability to enact any sort of change. Most lawyers don't even make more than the national median, so this idea of people whoring themselves for the highest bidder is nothing but layman's ignorance wrapped up in "educated man's" sophistication. The lawyer who is chasing ambulances is much more likely to be a scumbag chasing a dollar than the dude sitting at the big firms who has a fixed salary just doing his job. Because his livelihood depends on him taking horrible cases. He just graduated 100k in debt on top of his undergrad debt and he's not making much more than he would've made with just his undergraduate degree. The idea that "good lawyers" are rare is nonsense. Most people who need a lawyer cannot even afford one and most lawyers cannot afford to defend them. All those sociology, political science and liberal arts majors that work for Teach for America and NGOs before law school didn't get there and forgot who they were. The fact is, as deplorable as this person was, someone had to defend him. I wouldn't take the case, but someone would...and did. I was not going to let this characterization slide (whether or not you reply with a good faith response or snark or ignore it).

@2Quik4UHoes sorry from detracting from the thread, but this shyt gets and the vast majority of law students and lawyers heated. I'm about to promote the thread to the front page. And I'll retweet.

People who get angry at lawyers really need to take a hard look at the system itself. Someone HAS to defend you. Whether they like it or not it is a right that is afforded to you as a United States citizen that you have representation in court. Hell they will even give you a "overworked" (cough cough) public defender. Lawyers are trained to argue your case. Three years of Hell aka Law School teaches you to argue for your client. Using the law and the facts. That is their job. Sometimes a judge will ASSIGN you to a case and no matter how reprehensible the person is (child killer or rapist), you may still have to defend that person. I do think some prosecutors are flat out a$$holes by nature and there are some scum bag attorneys out there. But that is the same with every damn profession in America. Turn your attention away from lawyers who are just doing their job and to the people who make the laws. The congressmen. The Judges who always love to say..."I have the final say in the matter". Look at their corrupt asses when shyt like "Affluenza" happens. Look at the jury system, which is basically find the 12 dumbest people in the community and have them decide your fate.

But back off of Lawyers.

"I have never seen a class so deeply demoralized, so incurably debased by selfishness, so corroded within, so incapable of progress, as the bourgeoisie; and I mean by this, especially the bourgeoisie proper, particularly the Liberal, Corn Law repealing bourgeoisie. For it nothing exists in this world, except for the sake of money, itself not excluded. It knows no bliss save that of rapid gain, no pain save that of losing gold. In the presence of this avarice and lust of gain, it is not possible for a single human sentiment or opinion to remain untainted".

Using a 1845 quote..."The Attitude of the Bourgeoisie Towards the Proletariat" :smugbiden:

Really:rudy:

I know it may be hard to believe but lawyers are not the bain of societies ills. As I stated earlier take a look at these damn judges. The ones who are sentencing juveniles to these profit prisons for cash. Or these corrupt Congressmen who signed into law all these Stand Your Ground laws. But attacking lawyers in general is a reach. Even with a decent argument about the Bourgeoisie Towards the Proletariat, which can be summed up by watch the modern version of it in the movie Elysium.

@2Quik4UHoes try hitting up
Cenk from Young Turks
Ronan Farrow, Chris Hayes, & Toure from MSNBC

On the other end of the political spectrum:

Rand Paul
Joe Scarborough

All these guys have kids or in Ronan Farrows case have a sibling who was molested. Play that angle up.

You've convinced me!

Lawyers play a direct role in the hardships that face every man, woman, and child. Oh, I agree judges are part of the problem. The majority are lawyers after all. What about the District Attorneys Office are they not lawyers too? Did the District Attorney not have a pretty big say in this issue? Is it a pretty frequent thing for a Judge to go against the direction of the District Attorneys office and a PSI? Of course not.

District Attorneys are bunch of glorified tax collectors but I'll try and stay on topic. The District Attorneys Office are the force behind the majority of this bs and it's all money and politics. They'll do anything to justify their budgets like the whores that they are from the State Legislatures. That's why there is an endless string of minorities and impoverished people in prison. And why are they in prison? Because of lawyers and money(greed).

Don't try and play "Who's on first" with me, Buddy.

nah its right, most people are looking for themselves

people are using pro bono work and volunteering as a cover for the fact they really just want money

im already seeing it before my eyes :mjlol: people who told me at orientation that they came here wanting to do PI and would never work at a big firm and i see them at firm receptions :mjlol:

lets see how many of those kids you are talking about actually take PI jobs after law school :mjpls: people say one thing and do another :mjpls:
