Breh, none of this "swag"/coolness stuff we brag about has any bearings on power, wealth and economics in the modern world. Sad thing is most of us bragging about "swag" aren't even naive teenagers, we're more like 25 and up :snoop: no wonder we are in this position economically. We called Latinos "swagless" too and they were coming up without us even realizing it. While we were making fun of the Latinos for walking to work, or doing stuff like selling oranges, mowing lawns, or working 2 menial jobs living deep with family in one house, they were making moves and ignoring what we thought, 5-10 yrs later you hear nikkas like " :dwillhuh:where did all these Mexicans in construction come from? Where are all these Mexican plumbers and mechanics coming from? What's up with these Mexican grocery stores, laundromats, restaurants, bodegas etc popping up?" While nikkas were laughing at them and saying "at least were doing better than somebody in america, at least we aren't as poor as the dusty mexicans" 'Dusty' ass Jose, Carlos, Juan, etc were plotting, learning trades on the low, pooling their resources together, etc now the same nikkas that used to laugh are complaining about them "taking" good paying construction gigs instead of just the McDonalds position, complaining about them taking jobs that require you to be bilingual, wondering where they're getting the $ to open businesses, etc. In another 5-10 years,in addition to this, they will also own more plumbing, construction, trucking, etc companies as well not just restaurants, laundromats, stores, etc. I've already seen the growing numbers, mark my words.

Exactly, i can't believe so many nikkas over the age of 24 are still worried about "swag level" and shyt.

"They're swagless though :wtb:"

:dahell:yeah that's what matters, swag, not group economics. :francis:

I said yrs ago that Latinos as a group aren't going to just stop at being an orange salesman or janitor and not try to get into better fields and entrepreneurship. I said, they are going to practice group economics, and I was right, they are. As a whole, Alejandro and them don't care if you think his jeans and shoes are wack or if another man thinks he has "swag", they care about trying to advance their people economically.

This is especially true for the Asians. nikkas crack on Asians looks or "lack of swag", but they're the ones laughing all the way to the bank. Go to a random black area and most of the businesses owned there are by non black men. Asian men are extracting wealth from black communities all over the U.S, yet nikkas are in here saying "but they swagless though :troll:" I guess this is a coping mechanism for nikkas. "Yeah they are doing better economically, but they don't have swag!"

I said it on here yesterday but it's a prime example of this stunted, teenager, immature mentality that a lot of 25+ black men have, where we care way too much about little boy shyt like rappers lives and mixtapes, athletes, $400 sneakers, clothes (not even suits but shyt like $300 jeans), other nikkas "swag", other nikkas hairline, BAKING pies like a bytch etc but care very little if at all about economics, entrepreneurship, trades, investments, stock market etc

Asians and other groups making money off of us not give a fukk about being viewed as cool, nikkas can call them "chinky eyes", "swagless", "ugly", skinny etc yall think they care about that shyt? :bryan:they don't and we as MEN shouldn't care about shyt like that either.

Being known nationally, no, GLOBALLY, as a consumer with "swag" is nothing to be proud of. The world doesnt run on "swag".

I rather us own businesses, property, etc than not own it puffing out our chests saying "well at least Im cool and got swag, my race is dependent upon other races for employment, resources, shelter etc I consume and don't produce anything but at least my outfit is fresh, peep the Balenciaga's :wrist:"

:francis:

100% truth.

Black Americans are far too concerned with "looking the part" as opposed to being the part.

In other words, we'd rather give off the appearance of wealth as opposed to actually working toward being wealthy.

The amount of disposable income we spend, collectively, on "looking the part" could transform our communities in a major way if invested more strategically. For example, a few years ago Converse was up for sale. Nike grabbed it for a little over $300 million. A few Black athletes and entertainers could have pooled resources and purchased Converse. They could have marketed the hell out of it, globally. Now, Converse is one of the biggest revenue generators for Nike.

It's just frustrating to see young Black kids continue to repeat the cycle.

I remember when I was in school, nikkas cared more about looking fly than they did about doing well in class. The shyt was like a fashion show.

Even in college, nikkas care more about joining a fraternity than being the star in the Coding, Investment Banking or Consulting club. Those same fraternity nikkas are graduating without a job, yet the lame Asian kid who was the star in the industry-specific club is taking great jobs at Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs or McKinsey.

Not to mention the Asian kid probably had his education paid for by his parents, so he isn't there to waste their money. Black kid is there on student loans, so he doesn't take the experience as seriously. The monetary investment doesn't feel as real.

So many things are backward in the Black community. Our lack of wealth, relative to other people, is a reflection of this.

We can continue to blame slavery and white supremacy all we want. But, the excuses get old after we continue to see other groups come here and do the basic things to succeed.

It's like we're still stuck on stupid.

I wouldn't trade all the money in the world to be asian :francis:

I'm sorry if that's racist but there's no way you can look cool and be asian at the same time

Who Owns Almost All America’s Land? | Inequality.org

Even in terms of owning land, we are trailing.

That was in 1999. I can only imagine what the disparities look like now.

The homeownership rate, as well as its variations over time, has varied significantly by race. While homeowners constitute the majority of white, Asian and Native American households, the homeownership rate for African Americans and those identifying as Hispanic or Latino has typically fallen short of the fifty percent threshold. Whites have had the highest homeownership rate, followed by Asians and Native Americans.

Hispanics had the lowest homeownership rate in the country in all years, up until 2005. For the last half of the decade of the 2000s the homeownership rate for Hispanics exceeded that of African Americans. Temporal fluctuations were slight for all races, with rates commonly not changing more than two percentage points per year.
