the prices of some of these suburbs is insane, they trying to say Hamilton is the new Brooklyn
Could be. This data is from the 2021 Census so Barrie may be moving on up. It's north as hell though so you can have those winters.
Your findings are legitimate, this is all accurate. Like it was stated earlier, the black pop is distributed and not very concentrated, but primarily in the major cities and their suburbs. Fort Mac finding is also accurate, it’s the biggest town in largest oil producing region of the country. What's up to my Coli Canucks, eh? I had to do a project with Statistique Canada data and decided I would give you the Coli demography treatment. I went through Canada's Census Tracts to find the highest income Black areas. I ran into some issues but I think I have something you can tell me if it is right or if it is BS.
First, Canada is much less segregated than the US. Very few census tracts north of the border are majority Black---none overwhelmingly so. Second, Canada doesn't directly track income by race like the US so I had to basically find high income areas that were at least 25% Black and hope that at least part of the Black population has similar incomes. So here it goes, let me know how you feel.

#1 Ajax, Durham Ontario
Specifically Westney Heights and Applecroft:
Map Link
Census tract 5350820.04 - 30% Black, Median household income: CAD 133k
Census tract 5350805.06 - 27% Black, median household income: CAD 109k
Top reported Black ethnicity - Jamaican
The top two highest income census tracts with substantial Black population were both in Ajax in Durham, Ontario. Primarily Black people listing Jamaican origin. I don't know much about the area but I grabbed some pics.
#2 Ft. MacMurray, Alberta
Northern part of city, Wood Buffalo
Map Link
Census tract 8600004.00 - 28% Black, Median household income: CAD 102k
Top reported Black ethnicities - Somali, Ethiopian, Nigerian
I was about to call BS about there being a well-off area of Black folks in northern Alberta but when I realized it was Fort Mac I am guessing they work in the oil sands--which is lucrative I know since I used to travel to Calgary and Alberta for work in a past life. Mostly Horners but some Nigerians too.
#3 Malvern, Toronto, Ontario (Scarborough area)
Eastern part of Malvern
Map Link
Census tract 5350378.17 - 25% Black, Median household income: CAD 100k
Top reported Black ethnicities - Jamaican, Congolese
Another top location in the GTA, this seems more centrally located than Ajax. Don't know much about it beside it being near the Zoo area.
#4 Laval, Québec (Montréal metro)
Map Link
Census tract 4620625.02 - 30% Black, Median household income: CAD 100k
Top reported Black ethnicities - Haitian
Highest income area in Québec with overwhelmingly Haitians as the main Black population group. Part of the largest suburb in Montréal
#5 Toronto, Ontario (Scarborough-Rouge Park area/Rouge Hill)
Map Link
Census tract 5350362.04 - 26% Black, Median household income: CAD 89k
Top reported Black ethnicities - Jamaican
There is/was a Black woman councillor representing this area so it seems pretty legit?

There are some other areas--mostly in Toronto, another in Montreal and even one in Ottawa before the income levels drop off. Let me know what you think, even if it is "this is garbage"
Nope, it is a standard suburb, and relatively diverse. Need French to have success in Montreal job market though. Is Laval, Quebec a bad place to live?
not worth it in my eyesMy sister and her husband and kids lives there
winter sucks but summer is nice, plus much more affordable
my wife and I might be moving there
In my opinion, yes lolIs Laval, Quebec a bad place to live?
Putting Laval on there is funny
It's a mish-mash of the same demographics of Montreal just with far less English speakers. It's basically urban-sprawl'd the fukk out lol
Ajax/Durham is pretty much where any person who is not a millionaire is buying homes in Toronto at this present time. It's not special to any group
Your findings are legitimate, this is all accurate. Like it was stated earlier, the black pop is distributed and not very concentrated, but primarily in the major cities and their suburbs. Fort Mac finding is also accurate, it’s the biggest town in largest oil producing region of the country.
Yeah I expected that much but was shocked at no heavy Black areas. In the USA, there are near 100% Black census tracts. In Canada there are like two 51% Black census tracts--the Weston area around Weston Rd. in Toronto and some area in Montreal. Black folks barely register in the Prairie provinces and BC.
Is it REALLY that serious though?Nope, it is a standard suburb, and relatively diverse. Need French to have success in Montreal job market though.
