The way I see it is: they "save" the company by buying it from Univision and making it black-owned. Then they remove all the people they don't need or would tarnish the brand. That should be cheaper than starting from scratch.

So good PR and already built media firm to do with as they please. Win-win to me.

It wouldn't be a fiscally sound investment to purchase a defunct web entity with little to no revenue/profit potential & a lousy reputation to boot. And not only could the cost of entry to purchase the Root be higher than "starting from scratch" with a similar endeavor, there are also other additional costs involved when acquiring a business which have to be factored in as well.

Furthermore, why would any highly successful black entrepreneur or group of investors bail out a racist Latin network like Univision by giving them major capital for a failed website that can't make any money?
