The Devils are playing an actual NHL team this series. The Hurricanes aren't the Rangers.
It looks like the Devils had an adrenaline dump in Game 7 that they haven’t recovered from. This could get ugly.

Carolina Hurricanes have three major injuries on offense
(three of their best forwards :Max Pacioretty, Andrei svetchnikov and teuvo teuravainen are out for the season with serious injuries and will need both surgery and physical rehabilitation to be healthy again) and they still have a good team. They are dominating the devils now and are controlling the play. Their only legit threats on offense are all star Sebastian Aho and veteran Jordan Staal it’s cool but not enough . If all their forwards were healthy, the Hurricanes would be easily the favorite team to win the stanley cup right now. And Frederik Andersen, their goalie is good but has tendencies to give up bad goals at the wrong time and is mentally weak. They are arguably the best defensive team in the nhl though. That’s why their goalies have good statistics(save percentage and goals against allowed) because they are playing behind a good and efficient defensive system.
One thing is sure though, both the Devils and the hurricanes are fast squads. Both speed wagons. Lots of fast skaters in both teams. Both teams play at a high pace/tempo too.

Basically there is no guarantee, as people were already saying Toronto v. Edmonton final, but Toronto lost yesterday.
