It takes a video of black on cacs to make a thread about this
This thread really came out the barbershop. The barber was telling me and some old head about how he mentors his young barbers. Then, he said it's up to them if they want to have success. It inspired me to touch on my experiences too.

I agree with the premise in general but they making it sound like that white boy got snatched up off the streets then beaten and tortured for being a trump supporter, that's how the media is spinning the story.Realistically that white boy was kickin it with them dudes for 2 days on the westside of chicago in a stolen van with a dude he went to school with and someone his parents dropped off to meet. The same friend and other people he was with all took shyt too far while herbing dude on cam.

ATL paid.. Cali blazed
What have you done? I'm being serious BTW. We get a ton of keyboard activists on this site...but what have you specifically done other than start online chatter. I don't mean ANY of this with any malice. I know you bring up good issues and want to see a change.

I've been a part of the Big Brother program for 5 years in my city, I've helped one kid get a college scholarship, cleaned up graffiti and picked up trash in the worst part of my city, and tried to be a positive influence. IF you aren't actually DOING things (if you are then :salute:), then my advice is to take time this weekend (if not today) to go out and do something and then tell us how it's going. Otherwise it falls on deaf ears.
Only college?..

It wasn't race related at all. Basically, it was that he had special needs. Should they do time? Yes. However, I think they need rehabilitation because giving them football numbers won't help them.

P.S. read the full quote. Where you find that info breh :ohhh:

I'm in Portsmouth, so our city isn't that bad like Newport News or Norfolk. Like I told my family, once I get this job (had to leave the last one to take care of my mother) I plan to do more volunteering and go back to college again. I've been thinking of volunteering in the Big Brother or some type of similar program. However, besides sports these kids need to focus on their education. We can have the next Black doctors and lawyers.

I agree...it's not just about sports. But what are you going to teach an 11 year old about becoming a doctor if you aren't a doctor yourself? You can (however) throw a ball to an 11 year old and make them feel like they are worth something. You can then show them the importance of education and how sports and studying can lead them to college.

Don't overthink it. I don't care what activity you do with the youngn's... just invest time with them and watch it pay off

I was giving an example with the doctor thing. However, I agree with you that we need to have these kids in positive programs.

Brutal Facebook Live attack brings hate-crime charges, condemnation from White House

Police ran his name and discovered he'd been reported missing Monday by his parents, who said he disappeared after they dropped him off at a McDonald's in suburban Streamwood to meet up with Hill on Saturday. Police said Hill knew the victim because they had attended the same school in Aurora.

According to police, Hill had stolen a van in Streamwood before picking up the victim and passed it off as his own. He and the victim then drove to Chicago's West Side, visiting with friends for two days. The victim slept in the van before being brought to the Covington sisters' apartment on West Lexington on Tuesday, police said.

Hours into the visit, the victim and Hill got into a "play fight" that got out of hand, police said. The sisters got angry and tied the victim up, according to police.

"That's when the attack begins," said Duffin, the police commander.

What spevial needs did that young cac have?
It's not confirmed, but there were reports that he was autistic or something like that. Situation was wrong, but those kids need rehabilitation and mentor-ship. Which kinda made me make this thread. It's our job to be there for these kids. So, they can be productive in society.

You can always land a TA position at a school. Some of these kids can use some help with their math skills.

I know, and have seen plenty of Black kids being interested in science and technology, but lacking an adequate math background to undergo study in such fields. So they give up because they simply don't have information that will help them.

If you know basic arithmetic, I am sure there are some schools that will want you to come help out the young children.

At the HS level, from my own experience, they need you to have at least a bachelor's. STEM preferably.
The actual tutoring isn't all that difficult either. Basic algebra most of the time.

You don't need to do a bunch of grand things to make an impact. Your time is more valuable than money imo (I am saying this whilst being broke fyi, so take this last part with a grain of salt).

I don't have my degree yet though. Just a cert. I'm trying to go back to get a degree in human services and branch into the political field. Before then, I'll stick with volunteering in the hood. I feel like they need a person like myself the most. TBH, I feel that I could relate to them.

It needs to start with music. We need good black men promoting love for blackness and healthy living to make it cool again.
I'll say like before, "Change starts in the home, and it creeps into the community". That's always been my message. We need BOTH in the home. I love the way the Nigerian household raises their kids. AA's gotta take some plays from our other brothas. Man, if unified we could become a force.
