I'm not mad about cinema. I'm mad at you dorks bringing in your tinfoil hat bullshyt into credible works of cinema. The film deserves more than New World Order youtube video level analysis
Kubrick made a movie about secret societies and you don't think conspiracy theories would be a large part of the discourse when discussing the film? :jbhmm:

I hate how the conspiracy theory weirdos and nutjobs have hijacked Eyes Wide Shut.

It's a great film, one of Kubrick's best. The whole thing has this dream like feel to it. How the cinematography uses light is mindblowing. It really looks unlike any film.

But I hate how the crackpots have tried to turn this into some Illumanti exposal film and even worse trying to link Kubrick's death to some bullshyt conspiracy. That shyt is very fukking disrespectful to arguably cinema's greatest artist. You retards should stick to watching bullshyt like Zeitgeist.

Yeah, it does seem like a bit of a reach.

We got nikkaz posting pictures of Prince Charles with a mask on, alluding to him being part of a secret society, yet the picture has been widely published. Can't be that secret, surely? :heh:

Kubrick was telling us things with this movie and the film got the proverbial sweep under the rug when it released.

How exactly did the film get swept under the rug? It received generally favourable reviews and made decent bank. The main issue at the time was probably the lack of chemistry between a real husband and wife

If you haven't seen it...you gotta give it a go. It's Kubrick for christ sakes!

It's one of my faves, seen it multiple times, so nothing new here, just wanted to take it all in again.

It seems that it's one of Kubrick's least popular films....:manny: I disagree, this movie has so much going on on a subtextual level. Comments on issues like marriage, infidelity, consumerism, elitism, sex, love, family, secrecy...all wrapped into a fukking bizarre plot dealing with...I won't spoil it for those that have never seen it. The performances are great. Regardless of what you think of her, Kidman really can go (And I have to say, she has a nice bod, although, not necessarily the best bod in this movie). Cruise shines (as usual). Side-characters keep up with them.

The resolution is perfect to me. The explanation given can be taken at face value...and it you buy it, it works and doesn't necessarily require much more to be questioned. But it's also ambiguous, and almost begs you to speculate on just what the fukk actually happened. I love this movie.

I feel like this is damn near the perfect movie for a lot of Coli brehs. It has a mixture of #GetMarriedBrehs with that Illuminati/conspiracy shyt that a lot of posters here are also into....:lolbron:

I'ma rewatch The Shining soon. These movies actually share a lot in common when you strip down the plot elements.

On first viewing, honestly, the secret masked orgy doesn't seem like the central theme running through the film.

Brilliant film, and my favorite from Kubrick. One of the few movies that can hold my attention through long conflict-less conversations, the dialogue was that good to me. I actually wanted to hear what these characters had to say. The usage of the blue and red colors throughout its cinematography were reminiscent of an arthouse film and created this surreal atmosphere that just sucks you in. It's Kubrick's greatest work, IMO.

Come back to us. :mjcry:

I've never understood the conspiracy where a group of powerful elites can kill Kubrick in his sleep but can't stop a movie in fukking Hollywood from being made and released by Warner Brothers.

These "elites" are shook over a movie due to ultra-secret symbols that no casual moviegoer will notice...but then they gonna supposedly kill Kubrick, thereby drawing more attention to the conspiracy but not stopping the movie from getting out at all?

Do the research on this movie. When you find the "hidden" eye of Horus on his back when he gets back to his apartment after the party, you won't look at this movie the same. Kubrick was telling us things with this movie and the film got the proverbial sweep under the rug when it released.

The movie grossed over 160 mill at the box office (over 50 from the US). It wasnt swept under the rug.
