If you doing that you got to take the TD off the board since that came after converting a 4th down while in FG range. So they'd be down 1. Y'all always seem to ignore when a successful conversion leads to scores

Then why wouldn't that same context apply to the second time when they successfully converted on 4th. Still down 3 points with a chance to tie. If anything it makes more sense to go for it earlier in the game with a lot more time to recover if you don't get the 1st down. Why does the opening drive take on added significance outside of an unproven "lift" that the team would get from answering.
