Yeah it’s hard cause I live in FL and there’s no real film industry. ATL is the closest.

Like I said, my written screenplay won awards at film festivals. There’s things I could do. Like spend a whole weekend in ATL trying to sell to people face-to-face. Also make a teaser or just one scene or two, and submit that to studios in LA or whenever. That’s kinda how a lot of people did it, like Issa Rae. She made the Insecure YT series and got HBO to put her on. I could’ve started shooting scenes, but it’s a lot that goes into that, finding actors who quality, scheduling and everything... especially when you work a 9-5 career like me. Covid fukked up a lot of stuff though.

Thing is hard to get people to read a whole screenplay when they get hundreds everyday. You gotta give them a reason. Seemed like I was making connections and it was about to happen, then I got an offer from someone who I think was just trying to scan me out of money. They didn’t get any but they had me thinking it was a go for a couple of months. Imagine thinking your life’s dream is about to come true then you find out it was all bullshyt.

I haven’t submitted it to any other film fests in over a year and a half, and it kinda fell by the wayside since I had kids.

I did eventually. I moved to England with my new family a few years back and randomly became friends with a nice anesthesiologist who recommended me to a highly reputed surgery practice in Yorkshire.
