I'm happy to hear that the movie theaters are FINALLY going to open back up. I'm not even upset about Regal Cinemas changing their drinks from Coke to Pepsi products, because I sneak most of my food/drinks into the theater anyway.:yeshrug: Do I look like I'm paying eight dollars for a Diet Pepsi? They better have my blue raspberry ICEEs still otherwise it's on.

In California, the new statewide ordinance as of today, pretty much mirrors what SD County and LA County have been doing since May 1st, which is masks in most public settings, inside businesses, rideshares, waiting for rideshares, entering a building, so per that guidance, no matter what AMC says, you will be wearing one inside, and until you sit.

The CEO is not coming out of the gate strong with a statement like that. Looks foolish for no reason.

I'll be going to the movies as soon as I can here, I don't think it's dangerous at all, to sit in a 30% filled theater. Probably a majority of movies I see are less than 10% occupied.

Truth be told unless its some major movie or something people have been waiting a long time to see... my local theater hardly ever fills up either. :pachaha:

i was excited about them opening but when i saw the mask not required thing I'm like fukk that. Be better if they let people stream movies one time at home thru the app. Like i got the a-list membership and it gives 3 movies a week. give us the option to stream a movie one time using that membership and it can count to the regular allowed limit. maybe even allow up to 2 streams a week instead of 3 and charge the same monthly price. they'll probably get some new subscribers too cuz the convenience of watching new releases at home will be a benefit for a lot of people. its gonna be tough for them these next few months during the summer and maybe even until the end of the year. top 3 largest states are all current covid hotspots and people are gonna be reluctant to go especially when they can just wait and catch the movie for free online somewhere in like a week or two. hell, they might even have released movies, albeit cam jobs. they overcharge for concessions and with so many people on unemployment, movie theatres not really high priority. don't know how they gonna get thru this but there's definitely gonna be a change in the industry. i say by the end of 2021, things are gonna be completely different with theatres.

The full quote
“We did not want to be drawn into a political controversy,” said Aron. “We thought it might be counterproductive if we forced mask wearing on those people who believe strongly that it is not necessary. We think that the vast majority of AMC guests will be wearing masks. When I go to an AMC feature, I will certainly be wearing a mask and leading by example.”

He also stated that there will be masks sold at the door as well and the employees will be required to wear masks.

He gonna make a full statement moonwalking cause he most certainly put his foot in his mouth.

Y’all gonna be back. Just wear your mask and make sure you ain’t sitting too close to people.

Regal is enforcing masks.

You know what should make a comeback? Drive-in theaters. Now more than ever would be a good time for them to return. I've actually never been to one so I'd like to go to one.
