The Green Bay coaching staff also recalled Marshall’s 2010 performance, but instead cited the receiver’s “dirty-tactics” as the root of his dominance.
“Against Brandon Marshall the guy throws us like three times,” said head coach Mike McCarthy. “Then Woodson gets up and gets called for it.”
Cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt was much more direct when asked about how his team plans on shutting down Marshall.
“It depends on whether he’s allowed to throw you, and that’s what he did in that [2010] game,” a still incensed Whitt said. “He was allowed to throw and grab and [commit] a lot of offensive pass interference. If he’s allowed to do that, it makes it difficult. But if the game is called within the rules, we can get up and play him … It makes it a different game.”
