Baseball is a hard game that requires superior hand eye coordination.

Todays pitcher throw harder and faster than ever before. Losing a tick of bat speed can take an All Star to replacement level

Something that no one is talking about in MLB is how Christian Yelich has become average in the last few years.

While he was in Miami, he was viewed as a prospect who could maybe contend for a batting title but didn't project to have much power.

I believe his last season in Miami he was mentored by Barry Bonds and it seemed to make in impact. So much so, that his 1st two seasons in Milwaukee he stopped hitting so many ground balls and looked like an MVP candidate.

However, the last 3 years he seems to have reverted to being just a mediocre player.

Normally you would explain this through aging but Yelich is only 30.
He got popped for that needle didn't he

He has a bad back, once you hurt your back you’re never the same

Pretty sure Yelich has had some back issues that sapped his power. Hes still getting on base at a good clip and stealing bases but if you cant use your back, you cant get your lower half involved in the swing as much. He was never really a power hitter until he got to Milwaukee but I know he has spoken on trying to play a through his back injuries and this is about as good as it can get unfortunatelyn

Yea backs don’t get better, they get worse. Good thing he got his money, bad for the brewers though
