He (Bader) probably the happiest player who got dealt. Gets to play for his hometown squad
So he has to get the vaccine to play there right?
Break it down breh....
I would think it's a long-term play for the Pads. They only have $87 million in committed salary in 2024 so they should have plenty of money available for Soto. Their salaries are structured interestingly too.Are the Padres gonna be Soto's longterm destination?
I doubt they got offered what they wanted for Contreras. Keeping him or a qo was worth it , are 3 minor leaguers better than willson Contreras?Contreras was the top catcher on the market. The price was real high and teams looked elsewhere.
They still can get a pick for him. They could have got at least 3 minor leaguers for him than one compensation pick
If the prospects offered were ass though the comp pick could be better for them.Contreras was the top catcher on the market. The price was real high and teams looked elsewhere.

They will sell him on staying and having a "core 3" with Tatis and Machado. If they have the funds and give it to him the protection in the lineup will be crazy for him.I would think it's a long-term play for the Pads. Machado's deal is done in 2028; Tatis Jr. doesn't make more than $25 million until 2029 (between $7-25 million from now til 2028).
There is not a more perfect city for baseball than San Diego. If they keep a contender on the field, that stadium will always be close to capacity. I'd be shocked if they don't re-up Soto unless they completely fall apart.
And San Diego can't let him walk to the Dodgers. They will sell him on staying and having a "core 3" with Tatis and Machado. If they have the funds and give it to him the protection in the lineup will be crazy for him.
