Benintendi or Pham weren't going to solve their lack of power outside of Alonso and struggles against LHP. Offense went cold when their average w/ RISP regressed back to the mean for nearly two months. A lot of fans bytch about their teams relying too much on the long ball, but more times than not the winning teams are out HR-ing the opposing team in the postseason. The 2015 Royals were a complete anomaly. A right handed slugger and relief pitching are two of the biggest needs.

Benintendi or Pham don’t need to give Mets power. They’re better hitters than what the Mets have and they fit.

For some reason Dusty loves having a lefty in the pen. Maybe even closer games here and there. Not sure. Couple of our guys have good splits against lefties.
