I didn't believe this until I realized that Times On Base = Hits + Walks + Hit By Pitch.

I thought Total Bases accounted for this but Total Bases does not include walks.

So while Bonds had 303 Total Bases, his Hits (135), Walks (232) and Hit By Pitch (9) do in fact total 376 Times On Base.

Totally unnecessary.
Yes, it's impressive to throw that hard. But that's the sort of thing that leads to injury. Not pitch counts. Not too many innings.

It's pitchers straining themselves throwing ridiculously hard.
Let's bookmark this and see how long it takes for him to blow an elbow or tear his shoulder.

105.5 and threw it for a ball.

He's Jordan Hicks

Hey look, he's impressive.
So was Stephen Strasburg.

I have no doubt he can be effective now, and even for the next few years.
Hopefully he won't suffer major injury.

Raw velocity is not nearly as important for pitchers as changing speeds.
Pedro Martinez was great, not because he could throw 97. He had it when he needed it. But it was the 94mph heater with the 80mph change. Or the 76 mph curve. That's what pitching should be. Unfortunately in the last 10 years we've seen this crazy emphasis on throwing as hard as you can for 5 innings, then burning out.
Flame throwers like this almost never last. I'm skeptical.

He's a reliever. If he turns into a right handed Aroldis Chapman, that's a W.
