@rantanamo he was a great player at Jesuit and was worthy of a scholarship especially when you look at the rest of the in state class that year. fierce blocker and he caught everything. I was just worried about his ability to get of the line in college and get separation. i dont get why people still ask about him. he's been passed up by nearly every receiver that is younger than him.

i said a few pages ago, connor williams will be a 1st round pick when he's done here.

:spit: at jake oliver being passed up by a walk-on. these cacs love making threads about him and that scrub garrett gray. i just laugh everytime I see a thread requesting an update on their progress yet they never ask about Leonard, Foreman, or Joe...far superior players. both Oliver and Gray need to be on the chopping block after the Spring, free up some schollies so we can go heavy on the dline in '16.
:mjlol: Before last fall camp, cacs on the various UT forums used to act like they were offended & get defensive if you suggested that Jake Oliver should move to TE.

I think Tyrone Swoopes is better than most UT fans give him credit for.

He's just not a good deep ball thrower. But he's fairly accurate on short passes and can complete 7-8 passes in a row befpre you know it. He struggles when defenses give him different looks. But that's all decision making and film watching.

Y'all are going to see how much Jay Norvell improves your WR's/passing game.

lol fans are stupid sometimes. like the coaches wouldn't have thought about that already. don't you think they are trying everything in their power to get a junior schollie receiver some snaps? plus a lot of these message board fans don't understand how much size you need to play tight end. it's not as simple as slapping 20 lbs on him when he doesn't have the frame for it.

Naw, I'm saying they were offended by the idea of him moving to TE. They kept saying shyt like "HE"S NOT A TE!!!! He's a WR ALL THE WAY"!!! They wanted him to be another Jordan Shipley.

Norvell is getting rave reviews so far. Was Stoops just pressured to fire him or did he need a fresh start?

Swoopes...I feel bad for the kid sometimes. He was not supposed to see the field for 3 years minimum. His level of competition in high school was WOAT. I remember hoping he would transfer to one of those Denton County schools for his Senior year so he could play against better competition and transition better to college.

He needs to stop being so tentative. He could help himself a lot if he used his legs more. I don't know why he never never never runs on the read option. NEVER.

All those short passes don't impress me breh. Defenses will often give those up to an offense knowing most times than not, that you can't dink and dunk down the field and score. His intermediate passing game has to improve greatly. I'm hoping the new offense helps him with the mental aspect of the game b/c he has the tools, just needs to gain confidence and stop thinking so much on the field.

A lot of people thought he did have the frame for it and he was reportedly a hard worker. Was very similar in size and playing style to David Thomas coming in who never played at that big. Don't think it was an uneducated guess that people thought he might morph into a tight end. Not trying to hype the kid, but there's a reason things were expected. No different than Raulerson(both still have time to grow). Both were thought of as guys with frames to build on and both were playmakers. Wasn't a stretch I thought.

Norvell was a casualty of Josh Heupel being fired, more or less. Other than Sterling Sheppard, our WR production last year was terrible....muchof that was Josh Heupel's fault. But being that Norvell also wore the co-OC tag(even tho nobody thinks he actually called plays), he got the boot when the offensive overhaul happened. The players love him though. I mean he pulled DGB back to the program just based on the relationship he built recruiting him 2-3 years ago.

Far as Swoopes, he ran against us a few times on the read option for good yardage :mjcry:

Those short passes with a WR coach like Norvell, will turn into bigger gains, just look at our WR the past several years. If ya'll have the athletes(and I'm sure you do), it'll be no issue. And under Norvell, your WRs WILL block for each other and the RB's
