However, DOESN'T shoot and CANT shoot ain't the same thing. He made 3 clean jumpers tonight. 2 were close mid range pull ups (he's only attempted like 20 of these EVER and has made 10+) and a spot up 3 (nikka never spots up).




He shot over 35% from 3 in high school, shot the 3 very well in college and shot 42% from 3 as a rookie (shot the most 3's of his career as a rookie).

It's a big difference between "doesn't shoot" and "can't shoot".

His mid range pull up is pretty as hell with hella lift and a pretty flick of the wrist. Looks much better than nikkas like Randle or Millsap who both took more jumpers at a similar size.

All of these are on very few attempts. Has never averaged even 1 attempt per game. Has only taken one 1 in a game 6 times in his career lol.

This is not the evidence of a nikka that "can't" shoot.

He doesn't shoot jumpers because he doesn't feel confident in taking them - that's a clear sign of someone who can't shoot. We've had an extensive sample size to tell us this is the case. This has been the case since before he even got into the league. This was one area I emphasized he needed to improve on to reach his ceiling, otherwise, he'd quickly become a footnote amongst the stars. We've been seeing that play out in real time over the last half a decade.

He had it going in the 1st half when he was allowed to run downhill and get to the rim against a makeshift Warriors team, but when those opportunities dried up in the second half, he struggled to get into any sort of rhythm, capped off by a 4th quarter when GS locked in on defense, forcing him to turn the ball over three times whilst only making 1 FG, including one possession where he tried to force his way inside with four defenders in proximity and got called for an offensive foul.

You gotta ask yourself - if he could shoot, why didn't he try to shoot down the stretch of the game when he couldn't get to the rim?

And it's not about him needing to shoot 3s, it's about him having another avenue of offense when he can't just bully his way to the rim. He simply doesn't have that. When he's not allowed to stroll freely into the paint, he doesn't know what to do, and at this point of his career, it's hard to see that ever changing because all those habits have been ingrained long ago.

It's time to let it go, he's not gonna become who you thought he would be all those years ago.
