For wrestlers in general wcw being sold for peanuts was the worst thing for them because they lost out on earnings potential and the only place left is pretty much a tyranny of politics that won't let you get over if you don't follow their formula...and you don't have a legit place to actually negotiate against like hey Vince Wcw is offering me this much can you match or make some better incentives for me like less house shows etc...

That wcw money was too good for bret Hart to turn down .

I don't know how the rock turned down that wcw contract. That contract money would have been huge for him.

I heard during them struggle years they paid kiss to perform one song on the show for 500,000. That literally had me like :what::wtf::why::snoop:

For the very top guys they probably made just as much in WWF or close to it. Supposedly Austin made like 8 mil in 98 all things considered. Being a midcarder is where WCW paid a lot better from what I've seen.

Alex Wright was making fukking 375k in 1999-2000 money. WCW was the GOAT place to work if you didn't take wrestling too seriously.
It was great if you have some sort of name value...Alex Wright was around for a minute and was over for awhile. He didn't really stand out when things got blazing hot though.....the main event guys when the ratings war was going on made a killing. Bret has always bragged about the money he made..and we all know Goldberg made enough to where he don't have to beg Vince for jobs in 2015.

I think it was a Stevie Ray shoot where he talked about how salaries took a dive after WCW closed down. Said the WWE has low downside guarantees which forces you to work more dates. Vince don't fukk around.

A lot of the big names had agents who made sure they had a good contract. Hogan and Goldberg had the same agent.
The thing about Goldberg and why some always will hate him is that he got MADE INTO this star. Yeah...the fans fell for it and cheered him big time by the first quarter of 98 but they GAVE HIM that push, that booking, and practically handed him the world on a PLATINUM platter. It justified itself when he drew in 98 but still...they HANDPICKED HIM like the WWF handpicked Brock Lesnar in 2002 to become a big heel star and win over big names out of the blue. Compared that to a ULTRA OVER guy like RVD in 2002 who the fans WANTED to win King of the Ring and maybe face Rock or Austin at a Summerslam Super main event.

Had to look up Tygress after seeing her name. Time has treated her well :takedat:
