There were just too many stars ahead of him that were a lot hotter in 98, when he was at his peak in WCW. He definitely should have gotten a bigger push after his feud with DDP and Benoit. But at that time a title reign for him wouldn't have made sense.

With that said, if he would have stayed he definitely should have gotten a shot at being champ during that 2000 period where the young guys were getting chances to shine under Russo.

I am NOT a sex offender
In terms of Raven's run in the WWF post WM-X7 I think the problem he and a lot of guys in his position ran into was the huge influx of people with the invasion and the Alliance. The roster totally ballooned and it was easy to get lost in the shuffle, or be passed over for a new guy looked on more favorably. I think the same thing happened to Justin Credible, who they just signed and put in X-Factor at the time.

But! Raven did get to kill Moppy, which was a very traumatic moment for me as I've had a lot friends who were inanimate objects that have been destroyed and trashed over the years. Its really sad!

Now you have a Hogan/Raven program for the WCW Heavyweight Title in which Raven gets the surprise victory and the championship. Now you have the unholy alliance of WCW and the Flock vs The nWo with Raven, Sting and DDP dealing with Hogan, Hall and Nash while you have Goldberg, Luger and the rest of the WCW roster dealing with the rest of the nWo squad :whoo:money feud and money ppvs
Wait. Why would Raven just abandon the Flock to align with the NWO? :jbhmm:

i was down w raven n the flock. alot of my friends hated him then but i like the anti-hero idgaf dudes. promos always had me like wtf? but still sounded cool. his US title run was dope. n his fued w kanyon was ill too. he shoulda got the strap b4 je went 2 the E. n the E shoulda gave him the IC title at least smh

The run leading up to him winning it or what....because he was definitely only U.S. champ for 24 hours before taking the L to Goldberg while a young Luckyse7enz marked out Indian-style on his living room floor.

Feel like Raven was right where he needed to be. World Title scene in that era of WCW wouldn't have suited him, BUT I do think they could've done more when he actually DID have the U.S. title. Maybe let him defend it a few times to build up the anticipation of Goldberg getting a shot because the fukkery in that match was A-1.

His feud with DDP to get it was great at that time, because it crossed my favorite channels. I still remember Raven running up on DDP in front of the Foo Fighters on TRL and Evenflowing him through the table. :whew:

I wouldn't have had him as World Champ only because I would've kept that Goldberg train going (I'm talking like into 2000). But I would've pushed him to main event against Goldberg for the title on PPV.

I wouldn't have put the world title on him. To me he wasn't good enough to be the man as far as a major promotion like the WWF or WCW. A major independent promotion like ECW, ROH, etc of course. Definitely a upper mid card guy but not main event. He definitely should have held the US title a lot longer than one day.

My knee jerk reaction is....hell-no.

But that's when I think of him as a WCW wrestler. I loved Raven in ECW, so logic forces me to reconsider my instincts.

Yes.

He did a great job wrestling GOldberg and elevated him as a contender and champion for the US title. If booked properly the entire Nest could have been used to buoy Raven into the World Title picture.

You'd keep Goldberg babyface while transitioning older stars out of the main event picture.

Hell, coulda used the Nest as a counter faction once the NWO fell apart. This would've helped reestablish WCW's faces and make them relevant again.

Because WCW needed someone once you did away with the aging ex-WWF stars. And you also needed someone for WCW's next generation of stars.

Benoit, Eddie and Malenko would've fit right in under those circumstances.

And if so when/how would you have done it? If not, then plz tell why not. I was a Raven stan as an angst ridden child and thus as am incapable of giving non bias answer. My Raven stanning was to AOL chat rooms as Da King's kliq stanning is to tsc.

Nah, i would've put him on creative tho.

Too many blue chip/superstars never got the belt plus i'm a fan of long title runs.

Nash, Sting, DDP, Goldberg, Bret would've probably been my top guys while grooming Jericho & Booker T

They mishandled a lot of guys. But when he came to the E I thought he would have been used properly like Jericho, Eddie or Benoit. Ravens flock would have flourished during that time. SMH. One of my favorite wrestlers in wcw in 98.

Glacier was meh same with kanyon before he unmasked. Raven had the flock, it started :flabbynsick: when Reese joined.

Raven/DDP feud was :whew:

Doesn't make sense. Raven was over and popular enough to make it onto the cover of Revenge with Hogan, Nash and Goldberg but didn't get the push.

I would've thought that, too.

But Paul Heyman was at his creative best while booking Raven storylines. WCW could have done more with him given their talent roster.

@THEREALBRAND has posted an intriguing thread.
