COLI BEAT LEAGUE WEEKEND UPDATE:
We start first with the big WBC championship match of the week.
@
producingfire took the league by storm last year, when he popped up out of no where and consistently racked up wins. Although there was some controversy about him using "throwaway" beats against certain competition
, he ultimately faced @
KushSkywalker for the initial championship, and took back to back rounds to win the first ever Coli beat league championship. @
KushSkywalker did end up copping some pleas about why his tracks didn't meet his usual high standards
, but what is done is done. And so it was with great anticipation that we awaited the rematch to decide all rematches. And then it was sort of like
as @
KushSkywalker came thru and crushed the buildings.
With @
KushSkywalker completing such a convincing victory, he is surely riding high as the undisputed champ, but what does it all mean for @
producingfire? Did the "throaway" strategy finally backfire on him?
The anticlimactic nature of this battle not only implicates @
producingfire position at the top of the food chain, it implicates the entire WBC division, which was supposed to be the premier division in the Coli Beat League (CBL). In a week where the IBF produced one of the closest and most innovative battle the Coli has ever seen, and one of the most complete and polished original arrangements we have ever seen, have we jumped the gun by crowning the WBC the premier division? Has this premature crowning made these guys lazy?
We won't even get into the late beat submissions in both WBC matches, but let's all take a moment to congratulate @
KushSkywalker on the birth of his son.
For the rest of the matches we'll keep it brief. The other WBC match-up saw the "titans of trap" @
Sincere Noble face off against @
DBR. This one proved to be much closer than the WBC championship match. Although the polls have not closed yet, @
Sincere Noble currently holds a 10-7 lead. Go vote on that if you already haven't.
Now to the IBF. Surely the match that created the most buzz on this entire card was the 3-round themed grudge match between @
Zeu$ and @
Bruh Man 5th Flo. Once again, with all the attention focused on the WBC championshiop match this one kind of snuck up on everyone like
.
In the end @
Bruh Man 5th Flo barely squeeked it out by one vote to take the IBF championship belt! If you haven't checked this one out, go back and take a listen, it will not dissapoint. Not only did these guys bring heat, they also were creative in setting up the parameters of their match, really raising the bar and showing everyone else the promise of the new system and what can be done when two warriors challenge themselves creatively to put on a real show for the people. @
Zeu$ may actually see his stock rise despite the tough loss, being involved in an instant classic slug fest.
In the first match of the undercard @
Todd McPiff delivered a proper thrashing to yours truly @
KillSpray. It was certainly a stunning haymaker, with @
Todd McPiff dropping one of the strongest original arrangements in coli history and putting the entire league, WBC included on notice that he is working with some real heat. Now he's the #1 contender in the IBF setting up the presumptive title match-up with @
Bruh Man 5th Flo.
@
Erebus, @illwitdeez and @
TEKBEATZ were busy on the sparring circuit, with @
illwittdeez stirring up some interest in his sudden appearance on the scene. @
Truality stirred the pot with some classic
moves, and even produced a very worthy beat, but upon being met with stiff competition he had an emotional meltdown and swore off the CBL for good
So the new system kicked off with some nice surprises, and things are alive and kicking. Let's keep this momentum going into the next PPV card.
Some brief issues:
FOR THE NEXT PPV PLEASE TRY TO GET YOUR TRACKS IN ON TIME. IF YOU EXPECT TO HAVE ISSUES MEETING THE DEADLINE, SAY SOMETHING AND WE WILL PUSH THE ENTIRE CARD BACK TO ACCOMMODATE EVERYONE'S SCHEDULE.
ALSO, ON THE TOPIC OF THREAD NAMING. PLEASE TITLE YOUR THREADS ACCORDING TO THE TYPE OF MATCH YOU ARE HAVING. ALSO, IT REALLY HELPS TO DISTINGUISH EACH THREAD, IF YOU GIVE YOU THREAD AN ACTUAL MATCH TITLE THAT DESCRIBES THE TYPE OF MATCH YOU ARE HAVING. SO FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU'RE DOING A BOOM BAP BATTLE, PUT THAT IN THREAD TITLE. BE AS CREATIVE AS YOU LIKE OF COURSE. EVERYONE SEEMS TO ALREADY BE DOING THIS, BUT FOR THE SAKE OF CLARITY, WHEN CREATING A SPAR THREAD PLEASE FOLLOW THESE NAMING CONVENTIONS:
- FOR A SPAR: "Spar - (Title of the match, I.E. "Boom-Bap Battle): competitor1 vs. competitor 2"
- FOR A PPV CARD MATCH: "PPV - (title of match): competitor1 vs. competitor 2"
Thank you to everyone for bringing the heat, keep it up.
