I don’t want see the same stakes over and over.
A two hour Avengers movie of just fighting the Chituri gets repetitive no matter how cool it was for thirty minutes at the end of a two hour movie.
It’s a horror movie, the main thing people want to see is people getting cut and killed in varying ways and scenarios. Not just stabbing people in the back in the same room.

I didn’t say cheap. I said keep the budget down to do horror(ie killing people) pushing an R rating.
Prometheus budget was 130 million which isn’t cheap. And has quality CGI.
I would've watch this shyt in a heartbeat. Black Manta was way more interesting than Aquabro and his bullshyt story. The way his father revealed the origin of the history of that blade and what his grandfather did to survive had me wanting more but of course they kill him (the father) before he could give more backstory.
Manta steals some artifact from The Trench and he makes a narrow escape
He then heads to a nearby coastal town where he holds up at a lodge to heal his wounds and wait for his men to come pick him up.
But a large group of The Trench come to shore and start ripping through the town killing everyone in their path on the hunt to Manta.
The movie basically boils down to a 30 Days of Night/Tales from The Crypt Presents Demon Knight type film where the remaining townfolk and Manta do battle with The Trench while waiting for Manta's crew to come back with the necessary heavy artillery to save their boss.
That could be done for a fraction of the budget that Aquaman was made for.

I was going in the opposite direction.
Some LexCorp vessel gets trapped in the Trench. LexCorp hires Manta to retrieve the cargo and crew(less important). They tell him it’s Kryptonite (so no Superman) but he finds out it’s something much more dangerous.
So you have fights inside and outside with creatures trying to break in.LexCorp crew gets murdered violently.

You are giving the WB way too much credit.They made a tv show about Batman’s butler as a spy that zero people asked for or wanted.
Black Manta doesn’t have a huge audience. WB green lights based on how it expands their core property.
So Wonder Woman 2 bombs despite WW doing well. They cancel Wonder girl tv show.
Batman makes money. So we get an Alfred Penny Worth show, Batwoman, Harley Quinn, Suicide Squad anchored with Batman villains.
They didn’t jump on the Trench cause they still don’t believe in Aquaman. There’s a Aquaman cartoon that no one is talking about.

That's not true at all... Aquaman was very successful and the sequel was green lit instantly. The cartoon is for kids. There's several factors why movies aren't green lit and they've all been mentioned here.. you are just mad that it's not happening but maybe one day it will.
The Pennyworth show was started when Gotham and all the other shows were hit after hit... they was riding the CW wave
