Sounds like atheists are starting to get under yalls skin. :umad:

Or you could have answered the question.

Realistically religion gets under yall skin.. which is why I asked the question. There Are non stop anti religious threads and opinions... and if it weren't for a few people, there wouldn't really be too many anti athiest threads. People on here like to pretend that religion is ruining their lives n shyt....

I think it's legitimate to wonder what a completely secular society would entail.

Hmm...I can count four "complaining about atheists" threads on the front page and only one thread that could be considered anti-religious.

If that many people are complaining about atheists/nonreligious people I can only guess that people are starting to doubt their religions and trying to reassure themselves. :ld:

To answer your question though...nothing in particular. There are many secular countries in the world anyway (including the US and Canada) and they vary. But I think most people would consider a secular government (like the US or Canada) better than a theocracy.

If you mean society a completely without religion, then it would still depend on the culture and belief systems of the people in it. Secularism in itself isn't an actual moral/economic system, so it would depend on how the particular country is ran. Socialist/capitalist, welfare state/social Darwinism, nationalistic or pacifistic, etc.

But if two countries were about equal in terms of government, political system, etc., except that one was secular and one was highly religious, I'm pretty sure I'd take the secular one. :manny:

so the world would possibly be essentially the same?

Religion holds society and human advancement back.

Oppression happens in the name of religion.

How would an atheist society be better?

People are going to create some type of religion no matter the case. Even Atheism is a form of religion (set of beliefs).

The actual texts themselves aren't the problem. It's society that runs with a few handpicked sections and call that the gospel. Meanwhile, most have never really read any of it.

The man worshiping element of it (my religion is better than yours) is all the ego talking. Even without "religion" we all have a ego that will cause conflict between people.

"world peace" as great as it sounds is all EGO.
