Romney came off as a good enough dude...goofy, corny, and high-strung as fukk, but not a bad guy. I obviously disagree with his policy stances, but he seemed to genuinely believe he could make a positive difference in public office, and it was apparent he hated the whole process of running.

His whole family seemed very nice, except for American Psycho Tagg, who didn't say much the whole time. They are the whitest motherfukkers I've ever seen in my life though, jesus christ. :heh:

I was surprised at how little he and his whole family seemed to care about him losing the presidency. They actually seemed happy and relieved. They're all loaded rich anyway, so they got no worries.

It was reported that he didn't have a concession speech written because he had been fooled by the right wing media bubble that he was going to win. It seemed in the doc that he just really didn't even give a fukk. He just wrote it on the spot like fukk it.

It was a painful watch because of the sheer corniness/swaglessness of Romney, but it did give some insight about who he really is outside of how he's caricatured in the media. Good doc.

I guess we were spot on about him and his whole family being swaggerless as fukk! lol I'm going to check it later tonight.

I watched it this past weekend and had similar thoughts. He came off as a nice guy with a nice family. The caveat is that it was made by someone who is obviously pro Romney so I don't know how much was edited out.

But yeah, his family is the definition of white. I know they are Mormon, but they fit every stereotype you could imagine of a rich WASPY 50s Father knows best family.

Even the way he greets his grand kids is cold and mechanical.

I don't need to watch it because being around politics in New England since I was a kid I've come across Romney before. He is everything you stereotypically think about a well-off white person. Corny and out of touch, but may very well mean well. This is the same cornball who greeted a group of black people by saying, "hey what's up, who let the dogs out" :snoop: He just fails to get it. As for him being a "nice guy"....well he's a nice guy in the sense of someone you an get along with as a coworker but stray from talking to them about anything contentious. It's more like someone you're acquainted with, but you know that outside of that relationship they wouldn't even look your way walking down the street.

i chalk this movie up to being propaganda. the real romney is what you get when he doesnt think there's a camera in the room
That 47% comment, even then, I think was mostly him attempting to placate the egos and dikkheadedness of the rich donors in the room. As out of touch with common folk as Romney is, it's hard to believe that he genuinely believed that hardworking people who make less than 50k or so (not to mention disabled people, veterans, the elderly, and college students) just need to take more responsibility. I think it was mostly him playing to his audience, which he never had a problem doing. But who knows.

i saw it, the only thing that surprised me was that his wife had multiple sclerosis, i dont remember hearing that, in the movie they tried to spin her horses and the trying to build the elevator in the house as a the reason for that, now that could be spin but they should have used that line in the campaign cuz spinning does work to an extent, but they just let all the stories about ann romeny's horses and the elevator hang in the air

but i wasnt surprised about him and his family, rich white people are perfectly nice people around themselves or even around other people, until certain topics come up, i never had any personal beef with romney, he seemed competent so i dont think any tragedy would have happened if he got elected but he was running against a black guy so i had to vote for the black guy

I don't believe that, these rich dudes truly believe income equality is not a problem and :mjpls: @ the 47%..

He has a lot of problem playing to the audience, and was horrible most of the time. You really heard all the awkwardness melt away on that Mother Jones video when he was around his peers. I think Romney has a hard time relating to people he doesn't consider his equal, he's not good at dumbing down. "Who let the dogs out." Really, are you at a sporting event? :snoop:

It's hard to imagine sitting through a documentary about Mitt Romney.

I mean he seems like one of the least interesting politicians people in history. :deadrose:

No that is exactly who he is. I can't believe you're falling for propaganda like this. I've been around all these New England politicians enough and even worked for them. He is not even considering half of that stuff you just listed. The most stand up guy is Jack Reed.

Romney always seemed like one of those politicians who just says whatever he thinks his current audience wants to hear. I have no idea how he really feels about...anything really. :heh:

But based on his record, I don't really think he's a far-right, tea party, social conservative type, though he was willing to pander his ass off to them.

You don't know any of that. Your psychoanalytic attempts are as good as mine. Not sure why you're saying I'm falling for propaganda when I clearly said that's how I felt from when I first heard him say it.
