Was the show Martin really colorist?

I didn't start this thread, although OP had a point. Btw, read my post #81. You don't gotta tell me about light-skinned jokes in the 90's, or before.

You'll keep saying Gina caught several light-skinned jokes. I'm having doubts about that. Name one other episode where she did, other than the episode I mentioned, the one with Mama Payne.

Breh, Jerome or someone else had a pet name for her cracking on her being light skinned just like Pam was junk in the trunk.

It was always about her being light skinned or having a big head.

And in the episode where Gina left him, Martin was crying to Cole and Tommy and literally said something about “that light skinneded bytch that broke my heart”.

I don’t know how old you are and am not trying to be funny but it legitimately wasn’t seen as a big deal
in real time and there was no malice behind it. We just laughed.

The light skinned bytch line is on this compilation:

Edit:

And I saw post #81. That’s the one I quoted you on when I said you were overthinking Martin trying to sneakily get a joke off about light skinned people. It was overt and a constant in the series. Cole was dumb, Tommy ain’t have no job, bruh man broke into his crib and held up four fingers to say he lived on the 5th Flo’, and everyone talked about Gina being light skinned with a big head. Thats why I thought you were from a different generation for it to hit you that way or maybe you didn’t watch it as much. Breh before me posted a compilation with like 10 light skinned jokes but you’re saying it’s hard to believe it when in real time it was :manny:

So you named only one other episode....not even sure about that. Martin calling Gina a light-skinned bytch? Maybe they cut that scene out later on, because I sure don't remember it. But didn't Martin and Gina have issues with one another in real life, causing her to leave the show...then accused him of sexual harassment. He probably meant what he said, if all that was going on behind the scenes.

You say her light skin always came up. I never saw that in the reruns. Maybe, her head every now and then. Btw, bringing up her light skin, and straight up insulting her, are two different things.

We not doing this breh. Dude before me literally just tagged you on this and you’re going to act like you didn’t see it:

It was a trope of the show and a constant. And no, the light skinned bytch joke aired in real time and I saw it when I was a kid. Not even sure why you’re arguing this. It’s like arguing whether Uncle Phil threw Jazz out of his house. It was just jokes and it happened, breh. But next you’re going to say that this compilation is AI or something or make up some other behind the scenes vendetta to overthink it, so you got it.

It might not fly today but it was acceptable back then, and Gina being light skinned was joked about in several episodes. It’s not even a big deal for you to not even be able to just be like damn, maybe I missed these references.

I just brought up the fact that I never saw them joke about her light-skin but once, because that's what I thought, thinking that was the only colorism related joke on the show. Meanwhile, most people kept saying the colorism was about Pam. The OP was arguing Martin and Pam wasn't about colorim. I dapped him on that post, because I agreed. You just proved my point that Gina was attacked more because of her color than Pam. But how come you didn't go out your way and post this back when I needed it, which was months ago when I first made it clear I could only remember Mama Payne attacking Gina's light skin, since it was more than once. That's when I was trying to indicate that Gina was more the victim of colorism. But thanks for proving my point.

Btw, you found every clip except the one where he supposedly referred to Gina as "That light-skinned bytch".

You're losing me more and more. I just told you how me and my buddy joked back in the day on skin-tone. But if you was just a kid when this show came out, then you have no business even arguing with me.

This show came out when half of us were tired of being stereotyped, and the other half didn't care. As far as The Martin Show, I'm from PG, and I'm very familiar with Landover Md, the part of PG County Martin grew up, and based most of his characters from, including himself. I also lived in Landover before. It was an insult to a lot of people from PG and DC, watching these knuckle headed Landover characters get played on tv, the same negroes you had to deal with in real life, who wasn't going anywhere. I watched only half of the first season. I didn't see the reruns into KODI came out. I can laugh now, but maybe I shouldn't too much. The world changed since then, and it continues to change.

I’m losing you because you’re arguing points that I’m not making. You said that Martin was secretly trying to “get one off” one time on the show because of something he secretly felt about light skinned people. My point was that he didn’t HAVE to sneak anything because it was overt and accepted by all the characters of the show — right, wrong or indifferent. Yours or my taste in humor was never the point.

It went off the rails because you swore a light skinned joke was a one-time occurrence, and defied anyone to name another episode where it could have happened, which sounds crazy if you watched the show, and the bolded part of your reply shows that you really didn’t. Which is not a big deal at all, but then it’s weird to swear you’re right about something you didn’t even watch closely. My point was that they weren’t trying to hide it at all, and saying that it was some subtle one time thing for whatever the reason is overthinking.

It was during the first season in one of the three episodes when they broke up. Here:

Yep. Gina got it several times.
