Speaking of childhood shows... what messed me up is learning that Mighty Morphing Power Rangers is not the first season of Power Rangers. Its just the first one they aired in the US.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is like season 16 or 17 of the show if I remember.
There are over 15 seasons that they just omit for US audiences.

How much of an a$$hole do you have to be to start showing ppl a tv show 16 seasons in and never let them know that.
Thats why so much shyt didnt make sense and they had to reshoot and add exclusive american scenes.
The japanese version is an entirely different show. Each ranger has a motorcycle and they do car chases and shyt. Each ranger's alt identity is trained in the weapon their power ranger identity uses... so for example, the chick thats the pink ranger is actually a master archer. So there are scenes where she is sniping cats with the bow but in her civillian fit, not morphed. They just cut all that shyt out of the US version and splice in comedy routines with Bulk & Skull to fill the difference.
what... the fukk...

Nah man, it was season 16, but each season prior to that(and after) was stand alone, theres basically no continunity between any of them in japan. sort of how it is now.

I kinda get what you are saying. Cause I have a friend that watched all of Justice League Unlimited and thought it was great but never saw the original Justice Leage, Batman, Superman, Static Shock, Batman Beyond or anything else. So much stuff went over his head but the thing is, he didnt even know cause he would of had to see the earliar stuff to even understand what he was missing.

To simplify it, Super Sentai (Power Rangers in Japan) is almost like True Detective or American Horror Story in the states. Characters basically dont carry over season to season, only the premise does.

The seasons have crossovers and references. I have watched them. (not all of them but several seasons)
Characters return, in fact one season I was watching they don't have morphing coins they have these cards that they put in the morpher slot and they can morph into various costumes/powers from earliar seasons.

There is still continuity even outside the actual crossovers.

(this is the american version of what I was talking about) Where they can switch to any ranger before them. :ohhh:

Yeah, Gaoranger for instance (which you didn't include) also had crossovers from season past ( megaranger, etc)
hence my "almost." I just meant those generalities to make it easier to understand.

Yeah, I get the analogy. Was just saying that its messed up to start us at season 16 cause there is (or was before they cut it out) backstory.

Just looked up Gaoranger. Thats further than I got when when I was watching the series. Haven't see it, yet.

Unrelated, but have you seen the TMNT crossover? :heh:
