Not even close.
I'm going to go see Moonlight for the second time tomorrow.
I love Moonlight because it showcases the perspective of a gay black man, which we never get to see.The concept was wonderful but I'm not going to lie, it fell short. There was not enough depth to the story. It should of had a gay sex scene.
this is true i thought he was going to be killing white folks like crazy shyt i was in the movies happy as shytI didn't see moonlight but BOAN was docile as fukk to be a movie about a slave rebellion. They gave more screen time to the white masters abusing slaves than they did to the actual rebellion. Controversy or not BOAN was very underwhelming, especially given the subject matter. There really wasn't that much distinction between BOAN and 12 years a slave, save for the last 5 min. Django was more of a slave rebellion movie than that
Django is a spaghetti western. The goat director has said this multiple timesI didn't see moonlight but BOAN was docile as fukk to be a movie about a slave rebellion. Better directing? You're biasedJust saw Moonlight. Overrated as fukk.
Of course it's the movie everyone's dikkriding. Poverty porn + black homosexuality > slave rebellion.
Birth of a Nation was flawed, but definitely the better film (better script and directing, hands down). And frankly, what Nate Parker pulled off independently on a tiny budget is remarkable.
Just goes to show you - most people are still threatened by slavery and tackling racism head on.
