A man who is generally said to have been the richest person in history, with 4 times the wealth of Bill Gates.
On a trip to Mecca in 1324, it is said he spent so much gold in Cairo that he destabilized the market for 10 years.

He was not the most powerful but he was certainly the richest. His riches did not preserve the Empire of Mali, unfortunately.

Mansa Musa had the wealth and resources to commit violence on a scale much larger than all these men but he chose not to. Just because he didnt commit mass genocide doesn't mean he lacked power

I don't think the Mali empire was ever on the military level of those rbh :manny:

No one is saying they should honor him

When they teach history they should teach about Mansa Musa because he was a significant part of history.

lol the history taught in many African schools don't even mention Mansa Musa.

I remember growing up in Southern Africa, the only history taught in schools was the Industrial Revolution, World War 1 and 2, Evolution, the Colonisation of Africa, Shaka the Zulu, the Great Zimbabwe etc.
