Seems like back then West Coast artists didnt go out of their way to let you know what gang they represented. Like it wasnt fashionable to spell it out for you what hood they repped. I never put two and two together when I was in high school looking at Quik's early videos, or CMW's early sh1t, or even WC & the MAAD Circle and Coolio's Fantastic Voyage video. Really though the sh1t was right in front of you, just not apparent to an outta towner's eyez.

There's a whole lot to discuss in this video though. Dude with a fanny pack, the one Mexican amongst all them niqqaz, numerous spots of red but only spots and not flamed up. I see what you sayin though as there's a few dudes in blue, but some of it's denim blue which I always took as neutral. Fascinating looking at old school West Coast videos knowing we know about bangin nowadays.

eiht said in a djvlad interview that labels weren't tolerating that gang shyt at all. So they had to be sneaky with it when representing.

also mexicans use to be in black gangs and vice versa in the early 90s and 80s.

Its crazy in hindsight. Cuz the labels and out of towners were completely oblivious to what those in that world saw plain as day. Bangin as it pertains to colors hit my city around 94", and after some RICO cases and what generally happens with fads, it kinda disappeared but not really. I was in a business districe a few years ago during the summer. Saw two young brehs, one on a mountain bike, the other on foot but obviously together. One had his flag hanging out the back left hand pocket. To the untrained eye it meant nothing, but I noticed it. Funny now thinking back on West Coast videos exposing a lot of sh!t but where I'm at we werent in the know to know at that time.

i learned a long time ago...nikkas back then didnt stay flamed or clued up like they do today..

back then if u had colors on laws would fukk u up before a rival would...

nikkas knew who was bangin and didnt have to look for red or blue

to be from the trees quik wore a lot of blue back then

You might have missed @Xtraz2 post, but he was right in that loc was used by damus and crips back in the day. It wasnt in til1993/94 to it became a primarily crip word. Similar to mob and mobbin. Everyone used that phrase back in the day.But crips abandon it just say sag or saggin.
