I did forget.

:mjcry:One of the reasons I stopped watching BET.
Then they got rid of the news...tsk tsk.
Got sold to Jews and Koreans...tsk tsk

BET Nightly news was actually a pretty solid program when Tavis Smiley was the host. Even Amy Holmes, believe it or not, was a respectable host for the years she hosted. This is before she went full fledged cheerleader status for conservative viewpoints. But Tavis's reign was actually one of the better news options and the only one specifically catering to black issues on national tv at the time. Fukk Bob Johnson for gutting it.

I remember they had Ras Kass on a panel before back in like '97 or '98.

The Boondocks comic strips had me rolling when they parodied this era.

Man, people dont realize how fukkin deadly McGruder was back then. I love the cartoon, but its not even in the same stratosphere as the strip was, especially during the early 2000s. "Who in the hell left the gate open!?!" was a running gag he always used to skewer BET. Bob Johnson personally responded to him and got roasted in response. Shows you how much power great satire has to sway public opinion.
