If it wasnt supposed to have been WCW vs WWF the invasion wouldve been dope

Heel Austin leading an army against Vince is good enough alone

I think time has been kind to that period. Until maybe like the late 00’s it’d have been a stronger contender for WOAT booking. But looking at the creative draughts the company’s been in since that time, comparatively 01 is amazing. You had a star studded roster with two of the all time GOATs as your top guys, an influx of new talent and possibilities, and an electricity that’s missing from the show now. The inVasion Angle, to me, really fell off the rails after the inVasion PPV, but you could still mine some entertainment out of it. Austin had a career best run, RVD was looking like a star every week, The Rock/Jericho was a phenomenal feud, etc. 2001 was the start of the decline quality wise, but it’s been since been surpassed.

Another thing that goes understated is that Rock was leaving to do Scorpion King, there is really no big baby face to go up against a heel Austin. I think that’s the big reason why business went down in 01, heel Austin vs face Rock could’ve worked until InVasion started.
IMO this is what really sent everything to hell. WWF kinda stalled out on developing main event stars in 2000, so by the time Rock was doing Scorpion King and Austin was a heel, there was no big babyface to hold the casual fan interest. April-June 2001 was actually awesome television with great matches and angles, but it was basically a heel territory. Undertaker and Kane were never franchise players and Jericho and Benoit weren't credible enough.

The invasion angle was botched to hell and back. So much wasted potential. Thank you Stephanie McMahon

Took over in November 2000. Chris Kreski set everything up by storyboard and Mania season was around the corner so it was impossible to not mess up early on.

1999 was the year that like...everything made sense. Weather the stories were good or not good storyboarding made it so that angles had a beginning middle and end. They might have hated on homie but storyboaring fukking worked. If we had that today even with today’s stupid stories at least there would be a sense of purpose and reasoning behind it. RIP CK thegawd

I was really thinking how many just :wtf: :mindblown: bad booking calls I remember from that year that really fukk things up then and for years to come:

:mindblown: at turning one of your biggest faces heel in SCSA in his home state aligning himself with his archenemy in Mr. McMahon for years.

:mindblown: aligning him with one of his hated rivals in Triple H who used had a lengthy feud about how Triple H orchestrated a attack that almost ended his career

Which reminds me :wtf: that Three Stages of Heel finish, if you wanted to plant seeds of both Power Trip and SCSA heel turn wouldn’t Austin “cheating” win wouldn’t made sense or Vince calling the match in a scenario that both men beat each so bad the match had to be stopped be better.

:mindblown: Invasion Angle, enough said

:mindblown: Turning Austin heel again, this has to the worst booking decision again. Clear seeing Austin save the WWF with all the stunners during a massive Invasion brawl and how hot the crowd was that Austin was still popular with the fans. I get that Triple H would’ve been in that role if not for his quad injury, but cmon. I would’ve turned Jericho heel and see if he could do it based on his history with WCW.

What do you think brehs?
It was also the year of X-Factor. You forgot that booking shytshow
