Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga has lost faith in Steve Kerr and no longer believes that Kerr will allow him to reach his full potential, Shams

Just two weeks ago against the Lakers the wing combo of Jimmy/Kuminga/Moody was running over the Lakers athletically. Kerr really running that midget GP2 out there when he really can't do shyt but give you a couple energy minutes

5 times yesterday gp2 got the ball down low looked and saw zubac and got scared and kicked it back out. I know kuminga would have gone up yeah prob blocked 2 of them but prob getting a foul call on 2 as well

I remember our game. Bilal is athletic. But Wiggins and Kuminga neutralized him. When Boston played warriors Wiggins on the wing neutralized Tatum.

These brehs being reduced to role players but they kinda are tough. This dude was a top pick getting dnp in a game that he could have helped them avoid the play in. If I'm him I'm mentally checked out. GS chased every small forward they had out of town. Barnes, KD, Wiggins, Kuminga..

They might need him in the games coming up and he might tank them purposely

I think he’s a young guy that has lost his confidence and not being incorporated into the system. It’s strictly built around Steph screens and if you aren’t a spot shooter or draymond it’s rough. Even Jimmy looks like he doesn’t know when to be himself sometimes but he’s old enough to figure it out. Dude is a potential star and has that athleticism these teams seem to undervalue these days. Of course he looks lost sometimes, he gets pulled for everything

he tryna play iso ball on a team with steph and jimmy

instead of 100% slasher and finisher

love JK

but this is his fault

when he plays slasher like, he has crazy results

seems a bit lazy out there on the court honestly
a bit entitled

once again i root for him. and want him to be great. just what i see

my guy, ALL Kuminga has to do is: cut, rebound, and defend

Kuminga's been here for 4 years and isnt a reliable cutter, rebounder, or defender. Some days he looks like he gets it, other days, he looks lost. He's also a ball-stopper. He almost never makes the extra pass, and just tries to iso score. They talk about his "rim pressure" a lot, but he's not great at finishing at the rim contested and when he gets to the line he's like 68%.

If he's lost his confidence it's because he doesn't understand basic fundamental ball. Jordan Poole was demoted to the G-League and was able to play with confidence and earned a spot on a championship team. It's on Kuminga for not being able to earn a spot on a fringe playoff team this year.

He's also not a star. He's a role player. That's also part of the problem. NBA fans just say someone will be an all-star/superstar because the player in question is athletic. If they don't have the IQ and cant make good decisions on a consistent basis (Kuminga hasn't been able to after 4 seasons), that player isn't going to be an all star

There's a reason people are saying he should go to the Nets and be a tank commander. They said the same thing about Wiseman ("now he can be on his own team and take as many shots as he wants", etc.). No player that is truly a star is fated to play on a bottom-feeder and lose games night in and night out

The warriors FO has MANY faults. But blaming them for extremely raw project players like Wiseman and Kuminga not turning into stars is not on them. They were never gonna BE stars in the first place. it's extremely hard to teach players how to play basketball IN THE NBA, the toughest league on the planet. It's a huge gamble that never works the overwhelming majority of the time.

See that’s where I disagree. Wiseman always sucked. I’ve seen kuminga be really good. I watched him takeover a game and drop 38 this year. I believe those intangible/fundamental things are magnified when you have a coach who won’t modify anything to fit you in offensively. Most young guys do those things better when they are included. We legit can’t see what’s he would be with Steve Kerr. He’s too stuck on predictable Steph offense, and that showed last night. You need a dynamic player like him and Jimmy to mix shyt up. Kerr doesn’t fw him and he doesn’t fw kerr. All that other basic basketball stuff isn’t gonna happen when you do guys like this. Personally seen it in Phoenix all year.

i've seen many players do that in this league.

I saw Mikal Bridges score 41 on christmas a few months ago
I've seen Malaki Flynn score 50
I've seen Corey Brewer score 50
I've seen Eric Paschall score 36
Pat Connaughton just scored 43 last night after getting multiple DNP's.

It means nothing in todays game. Any player can get hot and score. Even role players. No one is going to alter the offense around them, though. It's their job to play their roles within the framework of that already-established offensive system. The fact that Kuminga can't cut, pass, dribble or rebound consistently will make him a bad fit for most NBA systems outside of the teams that want to tank. THAT'S the issue. He can go to another team that wants to compete and we'll b having this same convo.

I get it. As a warriors fan I’m sure you’ve seen this repeatedly and are just over it. He can be definitely be valuable somewhere else next year. Guess we’ll have to see.
