That's where the cism comes into play. White QB's are given a decent amount of time to develop and their critiques are always qualified with "It's just his Rookie/Sophomore season". If you're a black QB you better hit the ground running and you better not trip up at any point.

I say that all the time. We are given little time to develop. They made all kinds of excuses for Eli, David Carr and Sam Bradford for their sorry play in their first few years. Its obvious what the difference is. Carolina signed two RBs for a lot of money and don't run the ball. Their defense is horrible as well. Coaching is bad too. I mean these guys were 1-15 in 2010 for a reason. Are there things that Cam do better? Yes, but he is not even half way through his 2nd season. Why do we have to do everything in warp speed?

I told people that before the season started that if they don't start winning games, he will destroyed by the media. I can tell you this, whites are OK with us being QB sideshows as a means of entertainment. Once they see that we have the potential to become elite or compete for a super bowl, one of two things happen.

1. We get critiqued for every little thing, similar to McNabb. When McNabb had no receivers to throw to except for 1 or 2 seasons in his career.

2. Credit is taken away from us. They start praising the coach or the defense rather than the black QB.

I don't really watch shows like first take but are they really getting at Cam like that. Most of what I seen has dealt with the team and coaching being trash as a whole. Then again I only check this website and a couple others beyond the actual game. Cowher and his scowl "looking" like the prototypical coach allowed him to stay on his job long enough to succeed as a coach.

This notion that Cam was anonymously viewed as the "second coming" is all revisionist history...

From what I've seen after looking, Cam's potential and upside was seen to be damn near limitless, whereas Stafford or Bradford weren't expected to be much more than legit starters. Bradford was expected to rise quicker through the ranks though.

They also agreed that Cam could just as easily be a bust, and that the other two were safer picks. Were they wrong about any of this? I think not.
