First, the FTC may block this. But even beyond that. Paramount + would ahve to be shut down, and so would Showtime. It would be negative for the entertainment industry, as multiple buyers would be gone for content.

The FTC already said it would block mergers like this. I can't seeing it passing, without WB unloading some assets that would come from Viacom (like unloading CBS, etc.)

I feel like Zaslav’s tax cut moves this past year has drawn too much attention to this to let the FTC just pass it.

Like it Zaslav had turned the company to profit after a couple more years and the at least had greenlit a bunch of successful projects, it would probably go through no problem, but just to merge off the back of another merger where they just shelved multiple projects for tax cuts is a block is hot mentality.

In theory, I guess this would have an easier time getting past government regulations than a WB/Universal merger.

I remember hearing months ago that paramount is in dire straights because of the debt they took trying to create paramount plus.
the investors want them to be bought out but it's hard to do because of the redstones or something like that

The model has cranked out huge hits for Paramount and has almost single-handedly driven the success of its nascent streaming service Paramount+ and cable channel Paramount Network. It has also pushed costs to among the highest in Hollywood. Privately, executives and crew involved in the shows question both the total amount of spending and where the money is going.

Internal frustration over the spending on Mr. Sheridan’s shows comes as Paramount is facing scrutiny from investors following a first-quarter loss of $1.1 billion reported on Thursday. That included a $511 million loss in its streaming business, due partly to increased spending on streaming content. Shares dropped more than 28%.


Back in the show’s production offices in Stevensville, Mont., confusing expenses were piling up, including a time card requesting more than $3,000 from a wrangler named Barbara Stuart.

“I was surprised to see a timecard for a TX wrangler come through last week even though we are now shooting in Montana,” Mary Jasionowski, the show’s production controller, wrote to Ms. Stuart, who was also not known to the head of animal wrangling on set.

“I am Taylor Sheridan’s wrangler,” Ms. Stuart wrote back, saying she worked on one of his ranches and prepared his horses for use in filming the show.

She was an employee of Taylor Sheridan, paid for by the “Yellowstone” budget, caring for horses he charges the production to use, located on a ranch where the production pays him to film: These are the hallmarks of the Taylor Sheridan business model.

In addition to getting paid to write, produce and sometimes direct multiple shows, including several in the “Yellowstone” universe, Mr. Sheridan has built a network of lucrative commercial projects that feed off them, including actor-training “Cowboy Camps” at one of his ranches and renting herds of cattle at $25 a head.

Which is crazy cuz they got a movie in like a week right? Just straight up dismissed it and waiting next year for hopes of them being great. Neo himself thinks this movie finna be garbage and worse than some of the other movies released this year

The reason nobody is excited to see Aquaman is because Gunn already said these movies mean nothing moving forward.

I wish they could have let Flash and Aquaman 2 ride and announce the new universe after that.

But obviously he had to let Cavill and others go, so the news had to drop when it did.

I loved Guardians of the Galaxy 1. It was one of my favorite Marvel movies. Gunn has always been a great director.
