Not really. If you expose everyone's salary you're essentially eliminating your negotiating power. You're just too dumb to see it.

Conservative Cac male treachery that has benefited your kind for centuries. That has the aided the wealth divide between you and minorities. Excuse me if I'm too stupid to adhere to a policy that allows your kind to prosper behind the cover of generational cronyism. :rudy:

I didn't say the general public should be able to look up a private companie's salaries, but employees within that company definetly should be able to know what their peers are making.

Atleast then employees can determine if they are being compesated fairly. It's like when you are in school, grades are made available to all the students and a justification can objectively be made why one student got an A, while another student got a C.

I don't see why anyone who works for a living would be against this.

In school it is illegal to make what each student received known to all... There is the issue of privacy. I don't necessarily want everyone at my job to know what I make.

The whole thing can also lead to lunacy among coworkers. Mr. Smith is a phenomenal teacher, but Mr. Jackson thinks he's better than Mr. Smith. Mr. Johnson is now upset he is making less. This cycle can repeat itself like the domino effect, and lead to hostility in the workplace, effectively destroying the workplace environment.

Wouldn't you want to know if you are being screwed? Even schools have rankings and honor rolls so people have an idea of where they stand relative to their peers.

I don't see how the costs of transparency out weighs the benefits.

If I was unhappy with my salary I would do something about it instead of looking inside the next person's pockets. Rankings and honor rolls are not exactly the same as employees being able to see what their peers are making. In school, the criteria is also more objective. In the workplace, subjectivity comes into play.

The workplace can become a hostile battleground instead of a productive atmosphere.

:what : We should be working to reduce subjectivity in assessing performance as much as possible. But whatever, do you.

I've been working for top consulting firms dealing with high level execs of Fortune 500 companies since I was fresh out of college you faggit.

I've seen how relationships and politics directly impact salaries and standing within a work environment. Transparency can only help.

Reducing subjectivity won't eliminate subjectivity. Unless you're working in sales, subjectivity will always come into play. Are you denying that the work environment can turn hostile, with people turning on their peers very quickly with that kind of transparency?
