They don't care because they feel like they are experiencing economic and genetic genocide anyway, if you mix that with their political evangelism it's a recipe for a disaster.
it is deteriorating and has been on a steep downward trajectory (for normal people) for the last 13 years. especially in London (brehdom capital).
"The prime minister is right to point out Britain’s dismal record on pay. Real average weekly earnings – earnings after inflation is taken into account – are barely any higher today than they were in 2008. Following the global financial crisis, real wages suffered their longest sustained decline on record, and have begun to slowly regain ground only in recent years. For those at the lower end of the income distribution, who rely on benefits to support earnings, the situation is even worse: before the pandemic hit, real incomes for the lowest income households were no higher than in 2001-02, thanks to years of sustained welfare cuts." Boris Johnson’s vision for a high-wage economy is built on shaky foundations
it is not about to collapse though.
the UK stands at a crossroad though with no clear idea about how we are going to get out of it.
boris johnson is speaking about the country levelling up and the UK moving away from being a low wage,, low skills economy but there are many cultural and practical barriers to that ever happening.
UK infrastructure is antiquated and second-rate. standards are poor. there is little of the economic and social positivity that you see stateside. we are hidebound by class, empire, history and find ourselves forever looking back at the past, rather than forward to the future.
the little dynamism that is here is concentrated in the relatively small overcrowded concrete carbuncle of south east england. dishonesty, duplicity and politicking abound. living standards are abysmal and cost of living is high.
people in the UK do just about anything to avoid hard or unpleasant truths or even discussions. that is why english managers (sport and industry) are crap. that is why the UK is global home of the euphemism. almost everything that can be said, has a navel gazing nervous tick soothing truth avoiding less direct UK euphemism approximate.
this all gets in the way of any real fundamental change in how we do things.
so yeah it is bad.
.
saying that, there are some very clever, very resourceful people in the UK, despite the lack of systems to fully exploit their potential.
in theory sure, but all states would have to agree, and I think the UK had special privileges before leaving as a founding member but I'm a little hazy on the last part(surely they wouldn't get those back)

I think it would be possible but the UK parliament voted to follow the result of the Brexit Referendum so I suppose the country would have to have another one.
I am more concerned about the UK becoming a modern country (with fairer policies) than I am about the UK rejoining the EU.
In a heartbeat. The EU is still much stronger with the UK. I don't think that as things stand the UK is going back though. The EU has to tread it's own right wing waters as well. Poland is beginning to rebel and as right wing governments get bolder things may get uglier. To be fair, it's going to be a rough future for everyone.
