I tried to avoid comparisons while they were airing but now that they're both over, WandaVision by a pretty decent margin.
I think the shows release order getting swapped around did both a disservice. F&WS is standard MCU, First Avenger material, which is great action, comic book accuracy. That was supposed to be the first thing we saw after Endgame. Had it come out as planned instead of following something so unique and haunting, it wouldn't look/feel as pedestrian as it seems to some.
And on the flip side, WandaVision being a little abstract at the beginning might not have been as jarring for people had we eased into this phase with something that felt a little more straight forward.
WandaVision, due to the nature of the run time and mystery got several spins throughout the week waiting for the next episode. I think by ep 3 of F&WS it was pretty clear that I wasn't gonna have that experience, wasn't too much to care about to warrant re-watching. I watched WV with my 11 year old and while she was pretty antsy through the first two episodes, once it hit 3 she got lost in the wirlwind. By the end of it she was crying, hugging me, her mind was racing, she was asking questions..it was an enriching, memorable experience.
I think F&WS has some of those moments but there's some connective tissue lacking between them and compelling characters besides Isiah.
