Inflation was up because demand was high after the Covid shutdown ended. On top of that they were shoveling money into the economy during the shutdown to spur spending, but too much money was actually in the economy due to the excessively large tax cut that Trump passed in 2018. People seem to forget that he tried to fire Jerome Powell; and he bargained with the Russians and Opec to cut oil production when the price of oil plummeted in 2020, which ended up raising gas prices on American. The dude is a walking talking economic disaster and he is set this Country up for a recession that would make people forget about Bush jr.
