Kendrick dropping when he did basically killed any TAAN hype that was building for Wale... and it's not like he didn't say he was out for his peers throats on Control...

I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you nikkas
Trying to make sure your core fans never heard of you nikkas
They don't wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you nikkas

Wale announce the date of the album too damn soon.

It doesnt have to be a "surprise" But you definitely should drop your album soon after announcing the date

I would call Sean, Drake, Kendrick and Cole all positive.
Wale's problem was that this shyt got terrible promo. J. Cole's promo had a lot to do with that #blacklivesmatter movement and how people were feeling at the time. Obviously he has a bigger fanbase too AND nothing else worth copping had dropped. Wale should have dropped last year when he was supposed to. The label fukked him on this one. But the overall marketing scheme was terrible. Dude couldn't get one commercial with Seinfeld? Not even a youtube spotlight commercial? Damn.

It was supposed to drop in Dec, then next thing you know he wastes some dope tracks on Festivus and he's on there talking about "maybe in March maybe in March"

:why:

Should of just dropped it in December a few weeks after Cole's release :smh:

Pretty much... and this album has some absolute homerun singles on here that could have easily got him better numbers for this album.

The Matrimony should of had a video and been on the radio months ago since he chose to wait to drop this

Label fukked him by not seeing the hit potential behind girls on drugs. Bug neither did Wale. His lack of confidence shows with how eagerly he relies on RNB futures. If he really had faith in his work girls on drugs would've been on the air waves.

To be honest... those features really carry his records.

And they're probably the best songs he has on his albums. This started back with that Lotus Flower and Miguel
:francis:

Dude obviously can pen a dope hook, he should just stick to his guns and go all out and stay in that lane.

Yep. This killed Lupes numbers too. He also should have lead with a single with more energy instead of Body. The Bloom would have been perfect, or the Usher joint.

I think the sample took too long to clear from Janet. I think that's why there is no Seinfield clip on it.

Lupe wasn't gonna sell man

Atlantic was done with him, just wanted him done. Wouldn't of mattered when the date was announced, his album wasn't going to sell that much. I knew he didn't care about flopping hard with T&Y when he threw Next 2 It in the bushes which IMO was a dope ass single with a nice concept.

Not dropping last year is going to come back and hurt a lot of rappers. 2014 was wide open. When you think about Nicki is the only one that took advantage of it.

I do agree with the promo. Why not follow what Cole and Drake did. Drop a short vid on web with some instrumentals from the album playing in the background and then drop the album a couple of weeks later.

Dude announced in Jan that his album was dropping March 31st and went on a radio promo tour like its 2003. @GoldenGlove
