I didn't watch this so I don't know exactly what he said...but I feel the need to speak on it because I don't even claim Native American and I have a right to do so (Great Grandfather was on the American Indian roles listed as a Cherokee, Grandmother grew up on a rez). I could apply for Citizenship if I wanted.
People need to stop trying to downplay their Blackness. If anything, should be proud to be descended from groups that fought for their rights. The only thing that burns me up about the Cherokee is that most of them just sold out...
My grandfather converted to Christianity and was basically living a normal white person's life, until he for some reason decided to marry a Black woman (who he probably kept as a slave). Why raise people up who look down on you culturally?
