If he were still in the NFL, this $7 million salary would put Harbaugh amongst the highest paid in the NFL this year. Next year Harbaugh will get $5 million annual salary plus incentive, which could well reach close, at or above $7 million. Extra money is undoubtedly baked into Harbaugh's contract.
The ability to make as much or more money in colllege football is and will drive the best coaches into CFB versus the pros. Already there are exceptional coaches choosing to stay in the college ranks versus the NFL, mainly on account of money and control. The same dollar imperative exists for all industries too. Ironically the only reason colleges can afford to sign the likes of Harbaugh is because of college slave labour, which too exists nowhere else but in CFB. Slavery in sports corrupts theinstitution like slavery in the South corrupted cultural institutions there.
- According to the Michigan Athletic Director, Harbaugh will be paid a guaranteed annual salary of $5 million, plus healthy bonuses for team success, a $2 million signing bonus and an unspecified amount of deferred salary.
