no they weren't.
WWE originally didn't have a Triple H speech planned for RAW this week. Last night's segment was done because of the crowd reaction they received at SummerSlam. The feeling was that fans didn't take Triple H's "retirement" serious enough at first.
Here's the funny thing about retirement angles... They only work if they are teased from the beginning. The storyline up until the second Brock "broke" Trips' arm was basically Trips defending his family's honor against the verbal/legal assault Heyman and Lesnar were tossing at them. Right after the match, suddenly HHH wants to prance around and act like "
Damn, didn't see this coming, time to retire"
Get the entire fukk out of here. The crowd didn't buy it at SummerSlam because to them it was a grudge match with no real implications outside of the two guys involved. WWE had to play this up for an entire week just to give it any "credibility" and it still doesn't seem believable. Ass backwards booking. Ass backwards writing, as well. And that's without even remarking on the stupid retirement speech we listened to last night. See ya in 6 months Hunter, we know you'll be back in the ring sooner or later.
