Square is symbol for physical body and circle is symbol for everlasting. Then of course the square and circle references are “[shape]s” so it plays well with his words afterwards about being in “shape”.

when people are use the circle as symbolism they use a perfect circle. A circle denotes infinite power/eternity and to use a 'deformed' circle would weaken that 'message'. Basically, it wouldn't translate well visually. Furthermore, there was no reason for the masons to not alter their logo to fit in a perfect circle if that was what they were trying to get across symbolically
