Brother Ali is absolutely superb and exceptional regardless of colour.
When did he claim to be black? I was under the impression he just didn't address it publically, until Daylight.
He might have said something IN A SONG well over a decade ago, but I never heard him in any interviews or anything say that ish. Plus even when I heard that ish I just thought it was cause he felt more black, related to black people because of the constant discrimination he got coming up too. Plus black people inspired and taught him in his life. He addresses it in this song..
I of course don't know his background racially, so he may or may not have black in his lineage, no idea. He doesn't claim to be black so hard, this is false, hence why most people on here would have no recollection of what you said. He does however support black issues because that's how he grew up, he is much more legitimate than someone like Eminem. Slug is partially black yes, I don't even notice it or care, it's all about the music. I don't see why his name is awkward, when he is a muslim, obviously a sincere muslim. And his righteous music is because it's how he genuinely feels. If there was more rappers like Brother Ali Hip Hop would be in a better place, if there was more people like Brother Ali the world would be a better place. He is one of the nicest people you could meet. He is very highly respected and regarded by the likes of Rakim, Chuck D, Immortal Technique. He is one of the best we have in Hip Hop.
