Their native Mexican music that some of them be bumpin in their rides with the loud tuba horns and shyt has no drums and no rhythm
Not a diss but their heritage music isn't something that can really spawn into really dope rap/hip hop imo. Hella dope in the other arts of hip hop like breaking, graffiti, etc. Its our African drums, dance, and rhythm that was the backbone for all these musical genres. Even the other Latin counties like the
Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, etc. have a way better sound musically that can transfer over to rap.
-on the thread topic about LA. Of course you have Mexicans/eses that bang but you also have a ton of square, regular dudes, and illegal Mexicans out here as well that want no problems whatsoever but to do their thing and try to come up. I got a couple Mexican cats at work I'm cool with. A Mexican family downstairs from me. We all good. Still stay on alert and that's with brothas who still out here bangin as well. East LA, I've been out there a few times, no problems but could definitely see certain parts of it being a sundown town. Black folks generally don't go over there. A lot of them are low key racist but this is mostly with the older Mexican and the ones who haven't been in the US that long but you don't f*ck with them anyway unless you're trying to become a spouse with one and have to meet their family. The majority of them don't bang and plus you got those that's trying to be white, black, hipster, punk rock, etc. There's also this thing where we look at them kind of side-eyed is because they give white people a pass too much. We call it out when white folks do some bullshyt and there's been times where they should've stepped up in the past and been with us on some things or they should've called white folks out themselves dolo but they don't and 75% of the time let shyt slide but yet quick to get at black folks if a problem arises.
