Good deal?

I wonder what discount rate one would need to use to understand what 36m/year is worth in 10-14 years. Like new MLB contracts be paying top players 60m per year in 2030.

It's getting tricky with all this inflation and the neanderthals trying to break inflation records on top of that. And it feels like owners are betting on these big and long deals actually being "relatively" cheap, except the ones with opt out options

Not my money :manny: Rogers has more than enough from robbing Canadians for decades.

Good deal for me as a casual. Still have an incentive to check out a Jays game every now and then.

Exactly losing vlad would set the blue jays back generations. A young born in canada homegrown player who just turned 26, fav favorite not even in his prime yet and actually loves playing in canada. Plus garbage deals like george springer are off the book next year. You can't spend 400 million renovating the stadium and put out a white sox type roster.

Never understood why you would want to sign contracts to that length for player and team. They final days of those contracts anchor teams
Almost no team that signs these super long deals actually have the player on that team that long, they end up getting traded at some point with the original team paying X amount of the salary.
