Sometimes when you’re “in character” you unconsciously make decisions that you might have seen the subject of your portrayal, even if they only did it once or twice. Thats why portraying real life people, especially people who are still living, is particularly tough.
Viola Davis one of the WORLD’S greatest living actors. PERIOD. But even the best actors sometimes aren’t the best FIT for a particular role. For instance, Denzel Washington is of course one of the top 3 best working actors in the world. But would Denzel make a great Michael Jackson? I don’t think so
Well said.
This whole idea.
That any black actor or actress can portray anyone. From the chadwick boseman ideal was alwsys a stretch.
That imo viola davis being from the same area.
Is kinda pulled into that dynamic.
When she never should have been cast as michelle obama.
It is as preposterous a cast as you so well and eloquently stated.
denzel should never portray mike jack.
Just the image of that...
Man,... Is as preposterous as viola playing the first lady from euclid.
Viola could only do what she was cast erroneously to do.
