Sometimes when you’re “in character” you unconsciously make decisions that you might have seen the subject of your portrayal, even if they only did it once or twice. Thats why portraying real life people, especially people who are still living, is particularly tough.

Viola Davis one of the WORLD’S greatest living actors. PERIOD. But even the best actors sometimes aren’t the best FIT for a particular role. For instance, Denzel Washington is of course one of the top 3 best working actors in the world. But would Denzel make a great Michael Jackson? I don’t think so

I think they took it from a few photos and worked with instead of just using the wealth of footage we have on her. Plus I like the idea of depicting her as sassy or "yas queen" when Michelle was typically reserved and professional. She is the most educated first lady in US history, yet gets depicted as the complete opposite both in the series and on social media. Good stuff, really.
