I never understood why you couldn't be popular unless he wanted you to be. You would actually spite the fans because they cheer for the "wrong" person? :dahell:
Vince was a control freak, and people like that can't stand it when others achieve something on their own because they believe they have to be the central figure in any success story. You think you can succeed without me? I'm burying you! That's how petty ego-maniacs behave.

It's been said numerous of times

Vince's WWE survived because his rivals destroyed themselves, whether it was WCW, TNA, etc.

vince has underbooked several great talents
Yup his idea for Stone Cold's gimmick tells you all you needed to know, he was basically in the throw shyt in the wall and see what sticks mode around that time in 1996. Austin had full control of his character and basically saved the company
Vince is an excellent businessman and promoter never a creative genius

Knowing the right ideas to go with when you have the final say, is being a good creative mind in itself. Same with Bischoff. Vince chose to run with/tweak Russo/Ferrara's ideas in the Attitude Era that he had a bunch of people, who'd been around longer, in his ear telling him were stupid. But he had the vision to see they'd work. It takes vision to ignore those more trusted/credible people telling you a good idea is bad.

Same thing with Bischoff. People act like he just was a checkbook, but stuff like the cruiserweight division, that's not a no brainer. He has Konnan pitching him on doing it, while he has guys like Kevin Sullivan/Arn Anderson, probably Hogan, etc with more power/longevity in his ear telling him it's a stupid idea.

Like that one wrestler who had the YouTube channel that got hella popular. I totally forgot his name.

I think he won a title at wrestle mania and lost it like the next night.

Zack Ryder AKA Matt Cardona. That title win was definitely a "Here, damn" half-apology for killing his momentum years prior. Managed to bounce back in a big way in the end though.

Except Russo had some of the worst ideas in the Attitude Era that McMahon approved, Brawl for All? suicide angles? Beaver Cleavage?
People wanna say Russo was the reason the ratings went up, when it was the Austin/McMahon storyline that launched WWE beyond anything
It's not hard to write for Austin when Austin had all the charisma in the world at that time
