I respect the ambition of this project and him trying something different, I like No Bleedin, I like Don't Get Chipped, and I like Relay but the execution is off. He need to get back into what he does best and get back to records like this...

He has been watering it down lyrically and what's with all the Big Boy's neighborhood advertisements being featured on here? Imo they cheapen the album and are a bad way to go about the theme he was trying to go for.

Sidenote:That Earl interlude on this though :ohhh: I need the full track. We need a new Earl album!

It seemed like the concept was for this to play like a half hour block on radio, hence the title FM and the Big Boy drops used to segue tracks. I could be off but thats what I took from it.

Well, I gave it 2 full spins back to back. Overall its a cool little EP, I liked the concept of having it play like ur listening to the radio although it could have been executed better, the transitions are a little off. I liked the beats for the most part, theres some moments where Vince flow and voice sounded annoying to me personally. The tracks I liked most were Feels like summer, Fun and Tweakin. I will def give it another spin or two in the future and see what grows on me.

He might finally have one with run the bands.

Better be the first single.

"Ran from the cops but the cops get shot now." :myman:

And I fukk with radio intros/outros. I remember Gambino having a song like that with floyd on BTI. shyt's smooth when done right.

his flows and delivery on these songs are on point, too. wild how this is straight nothing but hypercommercialized gangsta rap. this man raps dark, boldfaced lines about murder while starring in sprite commercials. shyt's still weird to me.

for somebody that claims to not care about rap, vince is very good at it and seems to put a lot of care into his art. idk what it is but he could easily cater to the lowest common denominator and put out really great, lyrical, gritty rap but each new album is something new. different concepts, new production and styles that challenge him to be more concise and pick what he says carefully.

Something he became very good at because I still think he's rapping his ass off, just in a different albeit no less impressive way. he's hitting multis throughout, internal rhymes, more elaborate rhyme schemes, all that. still painting images, but i think there's less storytelling in exchange which makes sense for radio.

the juxtapositions he's able to pull off with choruses like feel like summer and fun are wild. something i really liked from BFT.

he's really becoming one of my favorite rappers

Are you saying best album that dropped this week? Or this year? Best album out of what other projects?

Just the best out of the cluster of projects it dropped with (Takeoff, Moneybag Yo, etc.). It’s so much music dropping now it’s almost impossible to keep up with. Been playing FM! consistently in the whip all weekend though.

also, a reminder to go and listen to the album w/ Key! that Kenny Beats made this year. '777'

First thing I said when I saw the credits is damn Kenny Beats been killing it this year. 777 and Freddie have been two of my favorite projects this year.

Ive gotta disagree with this statement, saying nobody who is anybody criticized BFT is super inaccurate, a lot of his fans didnt like it and as Vince has stated several times he does this to make money, the fans are who is going to go to his shows, by merch and rack up streams on the various platforms, that makes them EVERYBODY. Bloggers, youtubers, magazine writers and reviews from whatever the fukk metacritic is can all be positive but if the fans dont fukk with it 2 thumbs up from Anthony Fantini wont pay Vinces mortgage

The people that go to his shows and buys his shyt are hipster White kids that listen to all types of music...that followed him from his Odd Future feature days

Vince been said the majority of his fans are White

...if you are one of those people that liked Vince because you thought he was a Crip gangster rapper...that is gonna keep making the same dark sounding hood shyt...then LOL...Vince been said he don't wanna make that kind of shyt.forever...

Hipster White kids pays the bills of artists like Vince...Hipster White kids aren't tripping over some electronic beats...that just makes them like him more...

Same shyt "Hip Hop fans" said about Danny Brown...changing his sound and not rapping about selling drugs anymore and getting more electronic sounding shyt...

Same shyt "Hip Hop fans" said about BFT and the critics kept calling them great and they kept getting paid...

Strict Hip Hop fans got this music game fukked up...unless you are a mainstream Hip Hop artist...you got a different set of fans and those fans listen to everything and your critical acclaim gets you on festivals and it gets you interviews and it gets you record deals and it makes people check you out and it gets you reviews and it gets you access to producers...

Vince Staples and Danny Brown ain't listening to Hip Hop heads...they don't care at this point...they are beyond that...

I think so too but it came off cheezy to me and it may hurt this albums replay value imo. As you said it could have been executed better and it was over done.

You seem critical of everything. Is there any project from this year you like?

Gotcha, yeah I'm behind on a lot of releases this year, just listened to FM for the first time last night.

What you said sounds good but don't forget that the hiphop fans are the majority of there fan base and that the hiphop fans made them. Without the hiphop fans they may open some doors but they won't have a successful career as they can by abandoning their fanbase for the love of hipsters.

I understand artist grow and experiment but it's about how you do it.

I do.

I like Pusha T's album, Kids See Ghost album, Fatima's album was fresh, Supreme Blientele by Westside Gun, Black Panther Soundtrack, Astroworld by Travis Scott, Kod by J Cole, Whack World by Tierra Wack, Jay Rock - Redemption and I could go on but that's all I could remember right now off the top of my head.

I’m surprised you like Whack World by Tierra Whack. Underrated album. Fatima’s record was cool... and I liked Pusha T’s and Kids See Ghost was ok too. I was just curious to know...

I don’t find FM!’s radio influence corny at all because it defeats the purpose of the title. For me it actually brings the project out even more in terms of the transitions from song to song. Like one user said, it’s like a radio block of just one great song after another. It’s a vibe from start to finish, and that’s how most albums/mixtapes should be.
