At least Cena was smart enough to acknowledge how bad his segment was.

If you take off the veil of nostalgia, it did run longer than necessary. They do that a lot today.

It's not about nostalgia, it's about a guy who routinely makes ridiculously horribly long bad segments complaining about something being too long. The segment ran long but the crowd loved it, and you had 2 of the most over guys in the company carrying it.
